What to read to a first grader: TOP-5 books for self-reading

Your child is finally reading. Not just making letters into syllables, but syllables into words. Precisely he reads, with understanding and comprehension of what he read. For some, this skill comes easily and naturally. For some, reading is a joint victory for the whole family with the involvement of grandparents. Be that as it may, now the parents have an important task: to make a pleasant and useful habit out of the skill. We have compiled a rating of children's books that will definitely please your kid, touch his curiosity and help instill in him a love of reading.

Practice shows that standing over a child with a book in his hands is the worst way to help him fall in love with books. “Three pages, and then cartoons” turn reading into a duty, and make a boring and tedious process out of the mystery of learning new things. It is impossible in principle to make love, and

• the book should contain pictures, albeit not on every page, but on every spread: large canvases of whole text frighten the child and discourage the desire to even start reading
• there should not be large paragraphs in the book, choose those where the narrative is structured in 2-3 sentences per paragraph - again, so that there is no effect of a solid text
• the font size should be large: firstly, it is convenient for the child to read, and secondly - less text on one page
• narratives should be short (3-4 pages maximum) if they are separate stories, or there should be a breakdown into small chapters

If as a child you leafed through comicsthen remember that this is a great first reading book. The whole story is presented in the form of plot pictures with small captions - replicas of the heroes. With a minimum of text and maximum of visualization, such books are great for encouraging a child to read without undue stress. Chi's Sweet Home is a kind and touching life story of one kitten who got lost and wants to return to his mother. In the process of his misadventures, he finds a new refuge and wonderful hosts, but still does not give up the hope of getting to his home. Among the shortcomings: the book is quite voluminous, so children often flip through the pages without looking at them, which is why they lose the storyline. Of the merits - the story of Chi has a continuation, as many as 12 volumes. Three of them have already been adapted for our reader.

"Chitamo by Cherzi" and "Reading Room". Ranok Publishing House

A wonderful series of books to "start" independent reading for preschoolers. In the series "Chitaamo by Cherzі" small funny stories about wild and domestic animals, the secrets of nature and the adventures of children are written with emphasis on individual words. The parent reads the main text, and the child reads the highlighted words. There are several levels in the series - the higher the level, the more highlighted text in the book, and accordingly, the more the kid reads. The "Reading Room" series is the next stage, where the kids will read the whole book read on their own. One book is one simple, often funny, or lightly instructive story. There are also levels here: at the simplest level, the book is written in very large print, only 3-4 sentences per page. The higher the level, the more text the child is asked to read. Very funny and interesting stories "Geniy ​​for 5 seconds", "Who's in my father", "Dragon, kish", "Electric mobile Sashko". There are stories in verse, so each parent will find a suitable story for their child.

In the stories about the village dog Rexic, the authors followed all the rules of a good first book for self-reading. The stories themselves are written in a language that is simple and understandable for the child, and besides, they are funny, light, often with an unexpected turn of events.

Uncomplicated and simple adventure stories of two cute mice that every child should like. The heroes themselves are mischievous, sweet and spontaneous, very close to children in spirit and mood. They often find themselves in ordinary situations, from which they manage to make unusual adventures. The stories are funny and short, each page has an illustration drawn by the author of the book himself. And at the bottom of the pages there are drawn stories about different insects, which are interesting to consider on their own, separately from the text. The book has a second part with the same characters. And if the child likes the author's style of presentation, you can buy one of his collections of fairy tales - "Fantastic stories for good", "Wonderful stories for good" or "Fun stories for good". Just do not take all the collections at once, because many fairy tales are repeated in them.

"Kaposna Book of Maliy Vovchik". Ian Weibrow

An interesting book with a big "reserve for the future" for those children who become attached to the character while reading. There are six stories about Little Wolf in our book market, and none of them is worse than the previous one. The plot of events is very similar to the famous cartoon about Kapitoshka: Little Wolf does not want to be like a real, evil and insidious wolf. The wolf cub is sent to the School of Scoundrels, and there real adventures begin. For independent reading, the book is suitable for children of primary school age (8-10 years old). Despite the light syllable, the text contains words and concepts unfamiliar to children that need to be explained. Also note that the pictures in the books are not on every page, they are black and white, although they are quite funny.
