How extensive is your knowledge about pregnancy tests? Did you know that the second strip may indicate an ectopic pregnancy and a frozen fetus?

Today we will give answers to the most common questions.

When can you do it?

A laboratory test can be done as early as 8-10 days after conception. Usually, this time is more than enough to change the level of hCG in the blood and urine. If you take a pharmacy test, it is better to wait until 10-14 days. This is explained by the fact that the sensitivity of urine tests to the hCG hormone is about two times lower. In addition, the concentration of this hormone in the urine increases more slowly than in the blood.

When does it show?

The best tests are digital. Due to their sensitivity, they rarely give false results. Pay attention to the numbers indicated on the package: 10, 25, 30 IU / ml. The lower the number, the more sensitive the test, which means that it will show a positive result with a lower content of hCG in the urine.

Can the test be wrong?

If you have chosen a test with a high sensitivity, you have no chronic diseases, and the cycle is regular, then the probability of error is incredibly small. And yet it is there. For example, a false positive test result can be obtained when taking fertility drugs that contain hCG. A false negative result can be if the woman took the test too early, or, for example, has kidney problems.

What if the strip is poorly translucent?

In this case, it is recommended to repeat the test after 2-3 days. If all is well with the pregnancy, then it should become brighter. If the color remains the same dull, then this may be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy.
