Each time they can be eaten with different additives, for example, with sour cream, with mayonnaise, with ketchup, with butter. They are also eaten with vinegar. But this option seems to be gradually disappearing into the Soviet past. So why was vinegar always served with dumplings in Soviet canteens?

Dumplings were the main dish of Siberians, and later gained popularity among the Uzbeks. And now it is difficult to understand where such a custom actually came from - to eat this dish with vinegar. I wish I knew the name of this amazing discoverer! But the fact that it was mega popular in the USSR is present. Because dumplings used to be at every turn, just like now pizza, rolls and fries.

So in every public catering, there were vessels with vinegar on the tables. This was the cheapest option! One bottle cost 24 kopecks. Of course, if you had money, you could order sour cream or Krasnodar sauce, but most often they still chose vinegar - cheap and tasty!

And how did you eat dumplings at home?

Of course, there was vinegar in every Soviet kitchen. They extinguished soda when preparing pies, pies, pancakes. It was added to salads. And, again, it was cheap. Only at home, more often something else was added to vinegar, for example, black ground pepper, mustard, butter.

I think it's not worth telling the recipe for dumplings, everyone has their own, but the classic one can always be found on the Internet. Let's find out better how to eat dumplings with vinegar if you like this product. First, remember that you should not offer this dish to your children, even if the vinegar is diluted. It's dangerous for their stomachs! Secondly, do not forget to dilute it yourself. By the way, you can dilute vinegar not with water, but, for example, with soy sauce, mayonnaise, oil, etc. This is a matter solely of your preferences.

You will need very little vinegar for a serving, about a tablespoon per plate, and then it's a matter of taste. And it is also very tasty to sprinkle dumplings with herbs on top. Basil, parsley will go best, and dill remains the favorite!

Today, one cannot even say that dumplings with vinegar are a purely Soviet dish. Indeed, even in our times, many people, despite the wide variety of all kinds of seasonings and sauces, prefer vinegar - the cheapest and most delicious option!
