According to the statistics to date in Russia, HIV prevalence has exceeded one million. However, 60% of all cases of infection, contrary to popular belief, it is necessary now just to heterosexual contact. And 80% of people are aware of their status, but only half of them receive appropriate treatment.
HIV infection
Indeed, now more and more often the infection occurs in HIV infection through heterosexual sex (more than half of all cases in 2019). This is with reference to the data of Rospotrebnadzor said the agency "RIA Novosti". For the same information 39% of all infections in the current year have been associated with the use of narcotic drugs and only 2.5% - with homosexual contacts.
Over the past 10 months has been officially registered about 66 thousand cases of HIV - is 8% less than in the same period of the previous year. Overall, the Russian Federation, there are 1.06 million HIV-infected people (with 37% of them - women). This independent news agency "Interfax" said Academician V. HIV situation in the world
According to the UNAIDS report (Joint United Nations on HIV and AIDS), the number of new HIV cases has decreased in 28 countries (since 2010). But the rate of decline are far from the goals set by the UN. In this connection, the aforementioned association Global Coalition was formed in 2017 (CC) of HIV prevention, bringing together countries which account for 75% of all cases (new) HIV infection in the world.
The same report noted that in the CC countries among the adult population HIV infection was reduced by 17%. It is a lot, but still very far from the 60% that have been set by the United Nations, as a global goal in this matter.
Indeed, not all so rosy as we would like. For example, in some countries of the coalition for the period recorded an increase in the incidence (new again) HIV infection. The highest growth was demonstrated by Nigeria (but there is at least 8%) and Pakistan (with its frightening 56%).
UNAIDS calls
Still, the Joint United Nations on HIV and AIDS does not hide optimism about the future projections. However, for this optimism was justified, UNAIDS urges not to stigmatize prostitutes, homosexuals and drug addicts, constituting the most vulnerable to HIV social groups. The union believes that the stigmatization of people contributes to the fact that they pay less attention to their own health, and almost do not seek medical help.
Today, in many countries under criminal prosecution of patients with HIV. And infected have to hide, without any possibility to implement their own right to health.
HIV prevalence and program constraints
HIV prevalence - the number of new cases of the disease among the vulnerable groups of the population for a particular period. In 2019 it was 0.7% in all age groups. That is, the number of new infections has increased.
As for the UN Famous 90-90-90, it assumes that by 2020:
- 90% of HIV-infected people on the planet Earth will be aware of their status;
- among knowledgeable people with HIV 90% have access to antiretroviral therapy;
- 90% of treated patients will come to viral suppression.
