According to the disappointing statistics provided by the World Health Organization, breast cancer - is the most common cancer among women worldwide. One in six cancer detection is necessary on this version thereof.
About half a million women die worldwide each year from breast cancer or related diseases. Most of them live in countries with low levels of diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases. In North America, successfully defeat the cancer at an early stage 8 out of 10 women, just below the figure in Sweden and Japan - 6 out of 10. In the eastern European countries can not cope with cancer only 4 women out of 10 cases.
A similar trend is due to the lack of special programs for early detection of breast cancer. This leads to the identification of tumors in the late stages, which complicates the prognosis for the patient and makes the treatment less effective.
In Ukraine annually detected 16,000 new cases of breast cancer, which makes the problem not only medical but also social. The main efforts of scientists today are aimed at combating cancer and prevention, which for many women is the only chance to maintain their health.
In its report on the topic of breast cancer, WHO experts have identified the main cause of the disease, noting that many of them are excluded by virtue of every woman:
breast cancer among close relatives increases the risk of cancer by 2-3 times. Certain mutations, especially BRCA1, BRCA2 and the p53, significantly increases the risk of breast cancer. However, according to scientists, these mutations are rare and account for only a small percentage of the total number of cases of breast cancer.
Thus, the main factors of the disease:
Early appearance of menses.
Late menopause.
Later the birth of their first child.
Hormone therapy.
Overweight and obesity.
Regular consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Low physical activity.
Short period of breastfeeding. As is known, breastfeeding has protective properties.
Lack of regular medical monitoring of women's health.
