To heal the canals, you need a dental microscope. It is used to treat the most complex dental problems in the network of Kiev clinics "Lumident"
If the pulp is infected in the tooth, the inflammation has been cured, but it continues to hurt, most likely the problem is that the dentist was not able to fill the root canals well or did not find all of them. This is a common dental problem that a dental microscope can help with. It is with his help that they find and treat dental canals in Lumiden - a network of Kiev clinics, which was one of the first to introduce the most modern technologies of complex dental treatment in the capital.
What is a canal?
To understand what a canal is in a tooth, you need to disassemble its structure. It consists of:
- enamel - the outer layer of hard dental tissue, which is the first to be affected by caries;
- dentin is a solid under the enamel;
- the pulp is a soft tissue, it contains a nerve bundle, it protects the tooth from infections and nourishes it;
- a dental root, pierced by one or more passages, through which a nerve "bundle" also passes - the fibers that connect the tooth with the nervous system.
The peculiarity is that the canal is very narrow, it goes through the entire root and comes out at its apex. If the pulp is already infected, the inflammation progresses rapidly, and the infection can get through it into the root system, periodontium, gums, blood. Therefore, with pulpitis, when soft tissue has to be removed, the channel opening under it must be sealed.

Why can't a dentist always find a tooth passage?
Each root canal of a tooth has its own structure - length, shape, location, diameter. The number of passes in 1 tooth can also differ (in eights, for example, there are from 1 to 6-8).
The peculiarity is that the smaller the diameter of the passage, the more difficult it is for the doctor to find its entrance. Often the location of the inlet is so well hidden or so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Therefore, each dentist of the Lumident network uses special equipment to find the affected root canals. Moreover, control should usually be carried out at 2 levels:
- X-ray helps to see how many canals are in the tooth, to assess their location (in the picture, the tooth canal looks like a thin line slightly darker than the root);
- a microscope with a magnification of 34-40 times allows you to examine the entire root, the entrance to the dental canal, its location, shape, route, length, quality of filling, when it is expanded or filling.

How will the treatment be carried out?
Although the endodontic section of dentistry, which carries out the treatment of dental canals, is one of the most difficult areas, in fact, there is nothing wrong with filling with pulpitis. The whole process will be carried out under anesthesia (without it, of course, the treatment would be very painful).
Moreover, Lumiden uses the latest computer anesthesia system for these purposes. It not only allows the use of a minimum of anesthetic, guaranteeing the absence of sensitivity of the treatment site, but also cancels the slightest pain even when the anesthetic is injected.
In fact, this is anesthesia without an injection in the classical sense. The program calculates the route of the drug, it also controls the dosage (amount of the drug), directing it along the path of least tissue resistance.

Filling process and post-treatment care
Filling (endodontic treatment) will be carried out as follows:
- the dentist drills the tooth, the pulp is removed to gain access to the entrance to the canal;
- all root canals are dilated (an endodontic instrument is used);
- their cavity is filled with gutta-percha;
- a filling is placed (temporary or permanent, in the first case after 2-3 days, if the patient is not worried about anything, a permanent filling is performed).
On the first day after treatment, the tooth may still be a source of mild discomfort. But after a maximum of 1-3 days, any sensitivity disappears, and he does not bother in any way.
True, it is now necessary to monitor his health with maximum constancy. With a high degree of probability, after filling the root canals, the dentist of the Lumident network will advise install a crown on the tooth - it will prolong its life and ensure that the infection does not penetrate under seal.
