In the USSR, everyone was equal: there were no rich and poor
Of course, there were people from the “tops”: scientists, actors, residents of northern cities, the party elite, who could afford trips abroad, purchase of expensive cars, high-quality food and clothing quality. However, this was also a rare case, because there was a deficit in the country, i.e. their salary was higher than that of the average worker, but in fact there was nowhere to spend it. And yet the general population was equally poor. Everyone ate pretty much the same thing and wore pretty much the same clothes. It probably brought people closer together, making them equal.
People were confident in the future
People did not torture themselves with thoughts that the ruble would fall, that prices would rise, that the communal apartment would grow. Because everything was stable. And, despite the possible shortcomings of the Soviet era, there was a fixed price and the certainty that there would always be enough for bread!
All apartments were given free of charge
Yes, if a person got a job at some enterprise, then he was given an apartment. And it's great that even a young specialist without proper experience could get it. Agree, now such happiness goes only to certain categories of the population. Almost the entire country is in mortgages, loans, etc. I will only note that the housing that was issued in the USSR could not be transferred to private property, it was impossible to sell it, it was used by citizens under a social contract of employment.
There was no unemployment
In the USSR, everyone was provided with jobs. Those who wanted to get a job could do it very quickly. If a person graduated from a technical school or university, he was guaranteed a place. Well, it’s also worth saying that there was an article for parasitism, according to which you could get a real term! I think it would be nice to introduce such an article in our times, but first, provide the population with jobs.
Education was free
Education in the schools of the USSR had a number of advantages. It was affordable, attendance was almost 100%, and the education was conservative and strong, and all graduates had almost the same chances to enter the desired university. Higher education was free, but now, of course, this is not enough. Now there are so few state-funded places in institutes that many poor people have to either go where they can afford or take out a loan to get a good education. This is probably why young people have become so fanatic about the scoop?
Medicine was free
This is certainly true, medicine was really free, however, many say that its quality was not the highest.
There were no divorces
Yes, in Soviet times there really were few divorces, despite the disagreements, people tried to find a compromise, endure somewhere, put up with it, but just not get divorced. Divorce, especially for women, was considered almost a disgrace! As a result, marriages were stronger, children grew up in complete families, happy, cheerful and contented.
In the USSR, everything could be fixed, not thrown away
Indeed, if your hair dryer or washing machine breaks down now, you will think about buying new household appliances. But before, people had no way out, the goods were in short supply, and they had to either fix it themselves or contact the craftsmen. And the clothes were sewn up, and the tables were boarded up, in general, they repaired everything that could be repaired!
