Maria has long since left her native land. She herself was born in the village, grew up there. When she graduated from school at the age of 17, she went to receive further education in the city.
Maria always studied well, so studying at the institute was very easy for her. She liked to sit in class, study, do homework and even take exams. She also loved the city. A place where a person is given a huge number of opportunities for every taste. The girl even dreamed of getting her favorite profession as soon as possible, finding a good job and meeting her only love. Like in the movies, nothing less!
It turned out that not everyone's dreams remain beyond reality. Mary is very lucky. She graduated, found a job, and two years later got married. A good man, responsible, hard-working, like Maria, without bad habits. They began to live soul to soul, gave birth to a son, a little later a daughter.
They even managed to get an apartment, bought it with their hard-earned money, without the help of relatives and without a mortgage. And for the New Year holidays, Maria was dumbfounded by the news of relatives from the village. They put the woman before the fact that these holidays they are going to visit her. Although Maria was not ready for such a turn at all, she did not refuse her relatives. I decided that since my relatives are coming to visit, I should meet them as it should be.
The family arrived early in the morning. By that time, Maria had baked delicious gingerbread, bought delicious expensive coffee. But the villagers were clearly not used to such a drink, they didn’t even drink it. They threw off all their things, said that they planned to stop by to see other relatives for the time being, and they would definitely return in the evening.
Maria had time to buy groceries. She thought that she should treat her village relatives with something special, so she took more money with her and went to the supermarkets. The woman bought expensive French champagne, all kinds of foreign fruits, red and black caviar, all kinds of cheeses, a goose to bake, red fish. I chose the best, expensive, tasty and high-quality products. And she started cooking at home.
Several different salads, canapés with red fish, caviar tartlets, fruit and cheese cuts. Then I baked a goose, and to it broccoli with pepper and cheese. The table turned out festive, varied, delicious!
Maria was so happy that now she can treat her loved ones with goodies. But they were not and were not. They showed up at 10 o'clock in the evening, scurried around the table with displeasure. Maria was worried, suddenly something happened, but no one even thought to explain anything to her. And one relative was dumbfounded:
"And what are you doing here?" It's like we're some kind of king. And anyway, what kind of food is this? Some kind of grass, nothing to eat. Is this caviar? Yes, it's not like that, this one is definitely not real! And what's that? Goose? And that it was impossible to fry ordinary cutlets and cut lard? Are there no potatoes? Here potatoes are a normal food.
Maria, almost in tears, listened to the ungrateful guest, and then asked everyone to pack up and go back to their village, eat potatoes. She cooked for them, she went to great lengths to please them. And they, you see, did not like the food!
What do you think, did Mary do the right thing? Or she had to endure the words that rained down on her. Still, the village people were not used to such food, they wanted it simpler, and Maria threw a feast. Or did she do everything right?
