Hello my beauties!
Each of us wants some kind of change not only in our life, but also in ourselves. They usually start with a haircut or change in hair color.
We decided what color we want to repaint, and found a good master colorist. But the realization of our desire is hampered by one important nuance - somewhere after 2-3 weeks the color will fade, the blond will go yellow. The shade itself will no longer be as bright as on the first day after we left the beauty salon happy.
Yes, hair coloring is not just a bold step in changing your appearance, but also costly. Color, alas, will need to be maintained periodically. But you can keep the color of dyed hair for quite a long time. Remember the following three tips.
Council number 1. Do not wash your hair for 48 hours after dyeing your hair
It is very important! Let me explain why.
Look. The paint always works on the basis of hydrogen peroxide, which can have different concentrations: from 2% (the most benign peroxide) up to 12% (this concentration is used to bleach hair).
Oxygen is released from the peroxide, which oxidizes the hair pigment and at the same time develops the dye pigment. That is, it does two important things at the same time when dyeing hair.
After a new color has appeared on the hair, the dye molecules increase as much as 300 times, thereby filling all the voids in the hair. This process is called paint polymerization by the masters, which takes half an hour.
That is why all colorists try to apply the composition to their hair very quickly for their clients; at this stage, crows are not counted. And it is desirable that the client does not distract with his conversations at the time of applying the composition by the master.
After the color has developed the residual oxidation process takes two more days, for the first 48 hours the pigments are still mobile and can be easily washed out with water.
So be patient after dyeing for two days, and keep the new hair color for a long time.
Council number 2. Find the right shampoo for colored hair
It should be:
1) pH is not more than 5.5 (i.e. acidic environment);
2) without aggressive sulfate surfactants (surfactants), see the photo below;
3) with antioxidants in the composition: they perfectly prolong the life of your new pigment in your hair.
A few words about why you need an acidic pH shampoo for colored hair.
To begin with, even in supermarkets, shampoos now come with a pH of 5.5-6. They are not alkaline, closer to the pH of the scalp. I myself personally checked it on a pH meter (just not the strips, they are not very informative). But for colored hair, the pH of the shampoo should be slightly less.
Our pigment is located under the cuticle - a thin layer of horny scales that are superimposed on each other like shingles. If the hair collides with alkali, then our cuticle-shaped armor swells, the alkaline agent gets inside the hair and flushes out the pigment.
And if we wash our hair with a shampoo with an acidic pH, then the cuticle will be in order, it will not open and our pigment will retain its color.
Council number 3. Find the right hair mask
It should also have a low pH. This will "seal" the hair immediately without using conditioner. In this case, all the useful substances from the mask remain inside the hair. They will be well hydrated and nourished.
Mask for colored hair can and should use a couple of weeks after staining. Especially after lightening: during this procedure, the hair loses the keratin that protects it, and it is replaced by the dye pigments. When they are washed out, the protective layer also leaves. To maintain it, you need a mask.
That's all there is to know about how to keep your dyed hair color long lasting. Just do not wash them for two days after dyeing and choose a good shampoo with a mask for dyed hair.
