With the onset of the heating season, not all apartments immediately become warm. It's one thing when the batteries have not yet warmed up well, another thing is the set mode on the plastic windows. Yes, plastic windows not only insulate us from noise, moisture and cold, but also help not to release the heat created by heating devices into the street. Not everyone knows that windows need to be adjusted depending on the beginning of the season. And it's time to switch them to winter mode!
Seasonal modes of plastic windows
Each plastic window has a winter and summer mode. And the only difference in them is that the winter mode allows you to close the window much more tightly. By the way, you need to switch to modes and plastic doors. When installing windows, the craftsmen leave them in a neutral position. It's kind of off-season. That is why, with the onset of winter, windows that are not rearranged into the desired mode can allow air to pass through, which makes the apartment cool. And it doesn't matter at all who the manufacturer of the plastic windows installed in your home is. You still need to switch them to winter mode.
How to set the window to winter mode?
Probably everyone has hex keys. They are included with any furniture. So just such a key is needed for the eccentrics in the windows. For reference: an eccentric is a small part in the frame of a plastic window or door that helps to adjust its position by rotating. If you twist the eccentrics, the windows will be much tighter or, on the contrary, weaker at the place of the rubber seams.
It is very important to find all the eccentrics in the window. To do this, you will have to inspect the entire perimeter of the window frame. In some windows there are only 3-4 of these little things, in others there may be up to 8! Eccentrics are located on that part of the frame where the window is attached to the frame, and also where the handle is installed.
So you've found what you need to tighten up and have a hex wrench ready, what's next? It's time to start adjusting. Please note that each eccentric has a dot notch. So the eccentric must be turned so that this notch looks towards the house, towards the insulation. The rotation angle from neutral will be 90 degrees. Here you can even visually determine which direction you need to turn, but it is better to focus on the notches, because they were invented by the manufacturers for this very purpose.
Well, for the summer mode, everything will be the other way around. The notches in the eccentrics must be turned as if towards the street, thus weakening the seal. But why? In summer, we often open windows, doors, vents in them, and in summer mode, all this is much easier to do. And, if the window is set to winter mode, firstly, all these manipulations will be more difficult to carry out, and, secondly, the density between the seams may be disturbed. In order not to get confused in the modes, it is better, of course, to immediately ask the master who installs plastic windows for you about everything.
You can check how hard the window is being pressed with a simple piece of paper. Just press it down with the flap, and then try to pull it out. If it is difficult to do this, it means that your window is correctly adjusted, if the leaf can be easily removed, you need to twist the eccentrics.
I hope my article helps you set windows to winter mode!
