Next week Ukraine celebrates its anniversary - 30 years since the declaration of independence. In honor of this date, our fellow citizens will rest for 4 whole days: working Monday, August 23, will be postponed to Saturday, August 28. The celebration itself will last three days, from 22 to 24 August inclusive. For him, they chose a symbolic slogan: "You are the only one with me." In total, more than 150 events are planned in different cities, from official (such as a parade and raising the flag) to cultural events (festivals and concerts with the participation of celebrities). We have selected the most interesting ones.
Where to go on Independence Day in Kiev
The capital will celebrate Independence Day on a grand scale. The President's Office has already approved an official program of events for three days. Here are its key positions that will be of interest to residents and guests of the capital:
August 22

Festival "Ark Ukraine: ten centuries of Ukrainian music in one concert."
Where: Mikhailovskaya Square, from 21:00 to 23:00
A unique festival of Ukrainian music, where the most iconic compositions for our country will be played for the audience. Here you will hear archaic carols and lullabies, and also remember our "gold" and "platinum" hits over the past decades. Among the artists announced for the performance are the group "DakhaBrakha", "Chorea Kozatska", "Kurbasy", famous opera soloists. It is also expected that the stars of the Ukrainian stage - the soloist of The Hardkiss Yulia Sanina, Jamala, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, Wellboy, Alina Pash - will join the Ark.
Lords of the Sound. Ukrainian pop hits
Where: Botanical Garden named after Grishko (Timiryazevskaya street, 1) 19:00
A similar event is scheduled for the same day at the Botanical Gardens. Before Independence Day, the Lords of the Sound orchestra will play cult hits of the Ukrainian stage there. The audience will hear and remember songs from the repertoire of Vladimir Ivasyuk, Nazariy Yaremchuk, Sofia Rotaru and Kvitka Tsisyk. True, the entrance to this concert (unlike the festival on Mikhailovskaya Square) is paid - tickets cost from 240 to 640 UAH.
Festival "Travel across Ukraine"
Where: National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine Pirogovo, August 22-24 at 13:00
The presentation of cities and tourist routes of Ukraine in the open air will begin on 22 and will end on 24 August. Here each of the regions of the country will present its cultural, tourist and gastronomic potential. In addition to the exhibition, guests are promised master classes on Ukrainian crafts, a fair of souvenirs and craft products, a food court and recreation areas.
August 23 (National Flag Day)

Independence Day Parade
Where: st. Khreshchatyk, 10.00
After a two-year break (recall that in 2019 and 2020 there was no parade for the Independence Day of Ukraine), a solemn display of the armed forces of Ukraine will be held on the country's central street. This year's parade will be attended by 5,000 military personnel, 100 aircraft, 400 units of weapons and equipment. Guests and residents of the city will be shown three columns - foot, mechanized and air. Among the "participants" in the military parade will be robotic wheeled platforms, an Ironclad unmanned combat system and a Camel robotic system for transporting goods.
Parade on the Dnieper
Where: Dnipro, next to the River Station, 14:00
After the military parade on Khreshchatyk, another demonstration of the armed forces will take place in the capital, this time by water forces. Amphibious and armored boats of the Naval Forces and the State Border Service will sail along the Dnieper near the River Station and Trukhanovy Island. Also, two 11-meter and two 7-meter Willard boats will take part in the river parade.
Festival SPALAH
Where: art factory Platform, from 12:00
Starting from lunchtime, the first festival of Ukrainian culture "Spalakh" will be held at the Platforma art plant. As part of this event, an exhibition of popular Ukrainian brands and street art artists, a food court, a photo zone, a recreation area and other activities are planned. During the day, young music performers will perform on two stages of the art factory: Vagonovozhaty, Cape Cod, Lucy, Komissiya, Stas Korolev, Raek, Palindrome, Leelu45, Zbaraski, Hyphen Dash, Sera Sheer, Lucas Bird. Also, the organizers promise that there will be "secret guests". The entrance to the festival is paid, tickets cost from 549 UAH.

Where: Constitution Square, 17:00
Closer to evening, a concert program will begin in Kiev. It will be opened by the famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. The maestro will present the program "Voice of my soul", in which he will sing with four Ukrainian singers: soloists of the National Opera of Ukraine Lyudmila Monastyrskaya and Tamara Kalinkina, as well as with Tina Karol and Jamaloy.
Concert "Independence in our DNA"
Where: NSC Olimpiyskiy, 18:00
A large-scale concert dedicated to the Independence Day of the country is planned at the Olympic NSC. 34 Ukrainian artists will perform at it. Among the invited stars are Sergey Babkin, Tina Karol, Irina Bilyk, Natalia Mogilevskaya, Okean Elzy, DOROFEEVA, Jamala, Oleg Vinnik, Olga Polyakova, Alexander Ponomarev, POTAP and many others. At the end of the concert, the audience is promised a grandiose fireworks display. The entrance is paid, the ticket price is from 300 UAH in the fan zone.
Independence Day in Odessa: fair and sea battle

Odessa begins to celebrate the Independence Day of Ukraine on August 21. On this day, a traditional fair of folk craftsmen will open on Primorsky Boulevard, where you can see and buy handicrafts and popular Ukrainian brands. On August 22, concerts of local performers and folk festivities will begin in Shevchenko Park. And on August 23, on the Day of the State Flag, a 30-meter flag of Ukraine will be stretched over the Potemkin Stairs. By the way, on this day, residents and guests of the city can visit any Odessa museum for free.
On Independence Day, August 24, a unique naval parade with a demonstration "sea battle" will take place in Odessa. Ukrainian Navy warships and Odessa port yachts will sail in front of the audience. After that, the demonstration "battles" of ships at sea, as well as marines and commandos on the shore will begin.

In Kharkov on August 23, on the eve of the Independence Day, the City Day is celebrated. The most interesting events will take place on this day. The opening of a giant light fountain is scheduled for City Day (at the beginning of Ave. Gagarin, just behind the Podolsky bridge) and a new observation deck (on the roof of the Gosprom). Also on August 23, a parade of embroidered shirts will take place (at 18:00 from Constitution Square to the Shevchenko monument). And the most anticipated event of the day is a concert on the central Freedom Square. It will start at 19:30. Confirmed headliners: MARUV and Nastya Kamenskikh. In addition to them, Kharkiv citizens and guests of the city are promised a few more "secret" celebrities.
Independence Day in Lviv: Museum Night and Concert

In summer, the western capital of Ukraine traditionally hosts the "Night in Lviv" festival. This year it was timed to coincide with the Independence Day of the country. On holidays, all museums in the city will be open until late, and the organizers of the festival offer residents and guests of the city more than a hundred night excursions and performances. According to the Lviv City Council, the central theme of the festival will be the independence of our state.
On August 22, Stryisky Park will host "Independence Family Picnics". There you can take part in master classes in pottery, straw weaving or face painting, listen to lectures by interesting speakers, experiment in the chemical-physical laboratory and see concert. And on Independence Day, August 24, the "Vyshyvanka Run" will take place in the center of Lviv. In the evening on the square near the National Academy of Land Forces. NS. Sahaidachny will host a big festive concert with the participation of such stars as Arkady Voytyuk, ALYONA ALYONA, NAVKA, the KALUSH group and PATSYKI Z FRANEKA.

On the occasion of Independence Day (August 21 and 22), the Dnipro open sky aeronautics festival will be held at the Kamenka airfield in the Dnieper. Guests of the event will be able to fly over the city in airplanes and balloons, and at the end of the festival they will witness a new record in Ukraine - the simultaneous launch of 500 missile models.
On August 24, in the Pribrezhny park from 10:00 to 22:00 the festival "Be healthy. You are healthy - healthy city. " The headliner of the event should be the famous psychologist Dmitry Karpachev, and the highlight is another record of Ukraine, a 15-meter long land flag.
