In the summer, every woman wants to pamper herself with some original new thing. However, do not rush to calculate your financial reserves and run to the store. Perhaps the new thing has been in your wardrobe for a long time and is waiting only for a fresh idea and a few hours of free time. An excellent resource for remodeling can be found in the husband's closet: a shirt that he has not worn for a long time will become the basis for many women's clothes. The simplest thing that can be made of it is a light beach dress. But with a little more effort, a man's shirt can make a wonderful tunic, a stylish vest, and even an elegant top.
A men's shirt is a truly immense field for handicraft art. Do not rush to write it off from the closet and send it to rags. It has a whole host of advantages. First, shirts are most often made from natural fabrics. For summer wear, this is ideal. Secondly, the length and width of a man's shirt allows you to reshape it into any woman's thing, from a dress or tunic to a top or even a skirt.
Idea 1. Light summer tunic
The easiest option for alteration, which does not require any special cutting and sewing skills. The only thing that matters here is that your husband's size is at least a little the same as your own. If the shirt fits well on your shoulders, you can safely proceed with the upgrade. To do this, cut off the top of the shirt along with the collar so that the boat neckline is taught. Trim the edges of the neckline with decorative tape. You can do the same with the sleeves - just cut them to the required length and process them with the same tape. Or simply stitch them around the edge and tuck them casually outward. The cut of the shirt can be left free, or darts can be made to fit the figure. The main thing is not to overdo it, because a tunic, by definition, should be loose
Idea 2. Beach dress
A light and natural beach dress made from a man's shirt will look very sexy. And the rework will take no more than an hour of your time. To do this, cut off the upper part with a collar (with a shoulder grip) from the shirt in a straight line, and process the edges so that the elastic can be pulled in there. Cut and roll up the sleeves casually.
If you complement the image with a belt sewn from the top of the shirt and sew decorative cuffs, then a beach dress will become a full-fledged summer outfit, in which you are not ashamed to walk in the evening the city.
Idea 3. Sundress from a shirt and a T-shirt
An original summer sundress can be made from a men's shirt and your T-shirt. To do this, you just need to connect the upper part of one and the lower part of the other product. The shirt will be your flirt. Measure not the desired length and cut off the excess (do not forget to leave an allowance).
Likewise, measure the length on the shirt, and cut off the top. Cut off the sleeves. You can also narrow your shirt at this stage if it is too wide on your sides.
Sew the side seams on the shirt. Sew the shirt yoke to the top of the shirt.
Idea 4. Stylish vest
To create such a stylish and light summer vest, you will need to spend one and a half to two hours. First, rip off the sleeves of the shirt, and make deep cuts on the front and back (as shown in the picture). Trim the back with the collar neatly, remembering to leave allowances in the fabric for the overstitching. This vest will need to be fitted, so be sure to measure it and mark the side lines. If necessary, dart the chest. Stitch the side seams, fold and stitch the edges. From the flat that you left on the back, weave a tight pigtail. It will need to be "added" to the desired length with the rest of the fabric from the shirt sleeves. Sew the pigtail to the top of the collared shirt.
Idea 5. Asymmetrical top
A very stylish and elegant asymmetrical one-shoulder top is obtained if you conjure over the shirt a little longer. To do this, cut off the upper part with a collar and one sleeve along an oblique line from the shirt. Process the top cut so that you can insert the elastic of the desired width there.
The bottom should be cut in a straight line so that the resulting top covers your waist.
Trim the rest of the fabric around the edges and sew to the bottom of your top so that you get a wide belt that can be wrapped around your waist.
