And on the other hand, if you see a product in a store that should not have mold, but for some reason it is there, then do not buy this product.
Hard sausages in the store can be coated with a thin coating of white mold. This is normal. The plaque needs to be scraped off, and then the sausage can be eaten. The manufacturer usually writes about this.
What else can you scrape and trim?
Throw away moldy meat or sausages. In such products, mold grows deeply.
Throw away any moldy meal scraps. These foods are considered wet and mold, along with toxins, penetrates deeply into them.
Molds on hard cheese that were not intended by the cheese manufacturer should be trimmed. Do not scrape, but trim with a piece of cheese 2 centimeters around the mold spot. Then the cheese must be wrapped in a fresh wrapper.
If a stain of new mold appears on soft cheese with edible factory mold, then such cheese should be thrown away.
If a spot of new mold appears on hard cheese with edible factory mold, then such cheese should be cut 2 centimeters around the new mold.
If mold appears on soft cheese, on which there should be no mold, then such cheese should be thrown away.
Molds on hard, crunchy vegetables such as peppers, carrots, or cabbage can be trimmed 2 centimeters away.
Throw away soft and juicy vegetables and fruits such as cucumbers, tomatoes or apricots with mold spots.
Bread and rolls with mold should be thrown away, because mold penetrates deeply into porous foods.
Do not smell moldy food. Mold spores are very volatile and can cause allergies.
For the same reason, do not just throw away the moldy product, but wrap it in something.
Clean the refrigerator and inspect the food that was next to the moldy one. Mold easily spreads to neighboring foods.
