The topic of Soviet times remains very relevant now. People argue whether life was good at that time, or if these were ordinary fairy tales, they talk about delicious dishes from the USSR, about the lack of freedom of speech and shortages. The lover of the scoop continues to stand his ground - in Soviet times, everyone lived very well and freely. But everyone knows that in the USSR a person did not have the right to choose, he could not fulfill himself in any way. And today I want to talk about what was forbidden in Soviet families!
If the topic is familiar to you, you can express your opinion in the comments!
So, things that were forbidden in Soviet families
The wife could not be the head of the family
Of course, in Soviet times, gender equality was promoted, but despite this, women had much less rights. There was no way they could lead a family! You couldn't have a better career than your husband's, you couldn't dominate. And in the event that the family still developed so that the woman began to lead everything, the man was immediately called henpecked and a rag! And very often such unfortunate men, who fell under the power of their wives, had to drown their grief in alcohol!
It was forbidden to have a servant
Even a wealthy family that could afford a housekeeper, of course, did not hire her. In the USSR, the exploitation of other people's labor in families was prohibited. All the housework was to be done by a woman, a wife, and not by any hired worker. If we compare it with abroad, then hired labor was practiced there, and no one saw anything bad in this. Almost every family had housekeepers, au pair, nannies for children.
There was no "cupcake" in the Soviet family
Well, it is clear that in fact he, of course, was, otherwise, where would the children come from! But the Soviet culture claimed that he did not exist. There were banned films where a bed scene was shown, or where the heroine had a knee-length skirt! Soviet propaganda was that each "comrade" knew how the relationship should proceed in a couple. First, a young girl and a guy meet and hold hands, discussing the communist future. And then the wife with the child in her arms leaves the hospital, and her joyful husband meets her with carnations. In general, there was a complete lack of sexual culture, and it was impossible to talk about intimate topics. It was impossible to pronounce words such as pleasure and orgasm out loud, the spouses did not talk about sexual problems, hence the many problems in relationships.
Children could not choose their education
There were institutions of state education, and it was in them that Soviet children were supposed to study. But the private education market was completely absent. Accordingly, everyone studied where it was, on who it was. And there was no opportunity to choose education for their children.
At will, people could not self-actualize
The state suited everyone for standard jobs, but if someone tried to stand out in any way, it was all cut off at the root. It was suggested that the Soviet citizen should not think at all; the state would do it for him. So it turned out that people were forced to do what they did not like, because they had no choice either. And there was no freedom in this regard either. Is it worth comparing with Western countries?
Despite all sorts of prohibitions and restrictions, many people still remember Soviet times with some kind of warmth and love. I understand that there were problems in Soviet families, but for some reason I really like films of those times or modern films, again, about those times.
What do you say? Was it bad or good?
