There was very good medicine in the USSR
In the era of the early USSR, medicine developed well, vaccinations were introduced, and medical workers were trained. In those days, life expectancy increased and infant mortality decreased. By the number of medical workers per capita, the USSR in the 50s was in first place in the whole world. However, the doctors lacked qualifications. Outdated equipment, the same outdated methods of treatment. Of course, some talented nuggets succeeded, having gone against the system, to create new methods of treatment, but low wages did not kindle fire and zeal in doctors to heal people, even though they swore an oath Hippocrates. Soviet children counted in their minds without a calculator and wrote competently, only they could not get acquainted with biography and works of many talented poets and writers, because they went against ideology the state. Many interpretations in the study of history were also not allowed, some inconvenient facts were generally kept silent. That is, education and science developed, but Soviet people had to learn and think “correctly”. And the most important thing was to know the history of the CPSU! Without it, you can't get an education, and you can't build a career.
Remembering the Soviet times, people present everything as somehow one-sided. I would not say that everything was very good in the USSR, but what was really bad cannot be said either.
