Done right this makes a great picnic dessert.
1. Fruit should be firm
Or slightly underripe. If they are too soft, they will not survive cooking on a wire rack, or even more so on skewers.
2. The pieces must be large
All for the same reason - so that the dish keeps its shape, looks attractive and does not "float away". Cutting the fruit in half can often be sufficient.
3. Don't forget to grease the grate
To prevent the fruit from sticking to the grill grate, grease it with oil that will withstand high temperatures. This could be avocado oil, for example.
4. Choose the right fruit
What turns out great on the grill: pineapple, pear, peach, melon, avocado, watermelon, mango, citrus fruits, bananas.
