How is coronavirus different from common pneumonia?
The coronavirus causes pneumonia, which affects all of the lungs, not just part of them, as occurs with normal inflammation.
Professor at the Royal Australian College of Virology explains why pneumonia caused by coronavirus, an order of magnitude more dangerous than the types of pneumonia already known to mankind, The Guardian reports.
Most of the pneumonias we deal with are bacterial and can be successfully treated with antibiotics. Pneumonia after coronavirus is much more serious, because it affects the entire organ, and not a small part of it.When an infection enters the airways, the body takes action to stop the virus from spreading, the doctor said. This process may be slower or less vigorous if the person has heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes.
Age remains the main factor by which we measure mortality. Pneumonia is always difficult in older people, and it was a very common cause of death before the coronavirus.
