A week before Easter, Orthodox Christians celebrate Palm Sunday! On this day, every family tries to get a pussy willow branch for itself, so that with its help they can cleanse their home of everything bad and nasty.
Our ancestors believed that the Willow relieves the evil eye and damage, drives away otherworldly forces and gives health.
It is advisable to bring the willow to the house 2 days before Palm Sunday, on Friday, and after the house is consecrated, send the willow to be burned.
But there is another rite, which provides for keeping the lit willow all year round, so that it provides health to everyone who lives in the house.Finally, there are traditions for Palm Sunday and for women seeking to get pregnant: before Ukrainian women, those who want a quick replenishment in the family, on this day they prepared and drank a decoction of willow.
To make a profit on Sunday, it is recommended to set a modest table, gather the whole family for dinner, and give the remaining food to the poor.
