Recently, people are increasingly turning to "proven" recipes for traditional medicine. Still would! So much terrible has been written and said about pills. Many do not believe either them or the doctors. Is it possible to believe what “our grandmothers did”? Let's figure it out. They say there are such "folk remedies" that not only do not help, but can also cripple:
1. Soda for heartburn
Ask any "medicine man" and he will tell you: the soda solution relieves the unpleasant sensations arising from heartburn. In fact, after taking such a solution inside, the acid level in the stomach really decreases. However, after some time, acid will begin to be produced in even larger volumes, dangerously injuring the gastric mucosa and causing inflammation. So relief for a while is fraught with subsequent serious problems.
2. Anti-dandruff kerosene
Many people are still convinced that only kerosene helps to get rid of dandruff hair. Adherents of traditional medicine assure doubters: after a month of application, the curls will become completely clean, thick, shiny. The opinion of experts on this matter is also unequivocal: such a "treatment" deprives patients of dandruff, but, however, simultaneously with curls.
By the way, "therapy" with kerosene is one of the most popular areas of traditional medicine. And it would be fine if only their hair was "treated", this poison is consumed inside, "healing" whatever it gets. Meanwhile, taking kerosene for a long time threatens unfortunate patients with toxic hepatitis, including a fatal one.
3. Onions for the common cold
They say that if freshly squeezed onion juice is dripped into each nostril (and not once, but 3-4 times), absolutely all pathogenic microbes will die immediately. Don't do that! In fact, onion juice causes inflammation, burns the nasal mucosa and can even lead to nosebleeds.
4. Iodine against colds
They say that a solution of iodine in alcohol has a disinfecting effect, reducing the number of bacteria in the throat. But, firstly, the iodine solution cannot be swallowed at all - a large dose of the substance will lead to dysfunction of the thyroid gland. And, secondly, an alcohol solution, together with iodine, can cause damage to the throat mucosa, and quite serious.
5. Oil for burns
Many people believe that vegetable oil can heal burnt skin. But this is not true The oil only provokes inflammation of the affected area.
A greasy film after oil application forms a kind of barrier through which the heat generated by burnt tissues cannot escape. And it remains for him to penetrate deeper into the skin and damage the tissues even more.
When the oil gets inside the burn, it causes a scar to form at the site. In some, especially severe cases, a skin graft may even be required.
Obviously, some traditional medicine recipes do not inspire any confidence. It is better to seek qualified medical help. But if you really use the "popular" advice, then a thorough check is required for their safety (we will keep silent about the effectiveness).
