10 months in braces. How the self-isolation regime affected my treatment (money and time wasted)

Hello dear readers!

Something I delayed with a report on how my life is going with the status of a bracket bearer. All the fault, of course, is the current situation in the world.

My orthodontist does not conduct regular appointments until now, even after the cancellation of the self-isolation regime in my city (Kaliningrad). The chief sanitary doctor has not yet given the go-ahead for orthodontists to work, it is not clear why.

Because of this, my treatment and the raising of the sixth tooth again took a couple of steps back. I was hoping that I would write the next article on how I got braces on my lower jaw and bite fillings, but now it's all postponed indefinitely :-)

Who has not read my story of a smile or has forgotten how it all happened - at the end of the article I will indicate links to past materials.

On March 3, all the rubber bands were replaced with new and stronger ones. The orthodontist noted that the miniscrew in the jaw began to loosen up and at the next appointment we will remove it, and after a while - put it in a new way.

I never learned to smile with my teeth :-(

The next appointment was scheduled for March 30th. But on the 28th we were all "closed" for self-isolation and my reception did not take place, and he was so needed! The orthodontist warned that he is always in touch, and I can write to him about any problem that arises.

And do you know what is most interesting? On April 3, my elastic band, which was attached to the miniscrew on the palate, breaks. And my favorite cookies are to blame :-)

The first thing I do is write to the orthodontist. After a home photo session of my tooth from different angles, we come to the conclusion that the gum should be removed from the palate. It was not a problem for me to remove them: business for a couple of minutes, but of course there is a big BUT ...

After removing the elastic bands, my tooth, which we lifted, simply drops almost to its original position. Teeth need time to gain a foothold in a new position, especially for strong teeth like molars. You see, again all my suffering is wasted. And that is not all (as they like to say in stores on the couch), do you think I got off with just this?

There are no rubber bands on the inner side of the 6th and 7th teeth, and all the support was transferred to the same miniscrew that was holding on to its last legs. During this time, he sank down and lay down on the gum and staggered. The place where it was screwed in was very sore, I could not brush my teeth well, because I was in pain.

Unable to withstand all this, I wrote to the orthodontist that I was in pain, the screw had to be removed, otherwise the consequences of poor hygiene could be dire. Of course, I cannot remove the screw itself, because: it is handed into the bone, it hurts to do it myself, and I could simply damage the thread, from which the screw would simply become unusable. The orthodontist was forced to accept me.

I came to the orthodontist's office. And I still don't understand why they are not allowed to work: everything there is absolutely sterile and processed in such a way that you can walk barefoot and eat from the floor. In grocery stores and shopping malls, the chance of getting infected is much higher, where people touch everything and do not care for a distance.

At the appointment, of course, my orthodontist noted that the tooth had dropped, but at least he did not have time to return to its original position. After anesthesia, the miniscrew was removed. And the most interesting thing: in the place where it was screwed in, there was almost no wound left, but in the place where the screw cap was, I still have a decent dent. Yes, it will all heal, but if the admission had been planned, then none of this would have happened.

Above I wrote that because of the pain and the whole structure, I could not carry out high-quality dental hygiene. Oh, how the orthodontist scolded me for that! All my excuses were smashed to smithereens. Good hygiene is always important, but when you have braces, the importance and complexity increases dramatically. An ordinary brush is not enough anyway, and to my entire set of braces care I also added the Hapica interbrush sonic brush, which helps me to clean the braces without any problems. And most importantly, the gaps between the teeth that I have on my front teeth.

In fact, I don’t need to do anything, the brush does everything for me, I just have to guide him to the interval that needs to be cleaned.
