Why you should stop buying hair dye in the supermarket and switch to professional dyes

Hello dear readers :-)

I have written about professional hair dyeing more than once. On the channel I had a detailed article on how to choose a dye and oxidant for coloring at home. But even under those articles in the comments there were those who praised the dyes of the mass market.

Perhaps the only argument was that everything was included in the kit: there were gloves and a "thinner" (aka an oxidant). But behind such accessibility, there is no benefit or convenience at all.

In today's article I will try to explain why it is time to abandon the dyes that are on the shelves in supermarkets. And why you should look at professional tools.

The first difference between household dyes and professional ones is that household dyes are universal. This is not always good (to be honest, it is always bad). When choosing a mass-market paint, you primarily look at color and cost, but most of you do not pay attention to which oxidant is inside the package.

abouta higher percentage than necessary. Add 12% oxidant to blondes, 9% to red ones, and 6% to dark shades.

And at the same time, few people look at the original tone and condition of the hair, whether there is gray hair, and these are very important nuances, at which the percentage of oxidant you need is determined.

For example, if you are dyed dark and there is no gray hair, then you do not need a 6% oxidant, which does not have the best effect on hair. When dyeing with professional dyes, colorists rarely use oxidants at a high percentage, select based on your source code and try to injure the hair to a minimum. As well as if you have uneven hair color, have gray hair or want to go into a different color - with the help of mix tones and the right oxidant, the colorist will easily do this.

Many people choose household dyes for their affordability, but this accessibility hides a paint composition in which you will not find anything good. And if there is, then in very small quantities, added only for the sake of a catchword in advertising.

Many professional dyes contain oils and caring ingredients.

As part of professional paint (especially Italian) contains high-quality purified pigments that cause minimal damage to hair (unfortunately, you cannot do without harm when staining). But household dyes are not distinguished by the best composition (as evidenced by their low cost and availability). In such dyes, salts of heavy metals are noticed - mercury, copper, lead, iron.

There is often a strong ammonia smell in mass-market dyes, which can linger tightly on the hair. Even washing your hair will not immediately get rid of it.

When staining, you and everyone around you will suffocate for another week. Manufacturers really work on the smell of professional paints, because if more than two customers are sitting in the salon for painting, then few people will survive from the toxicity of odors =)

Therefore, the aroma of professional dyes is often softer and even somewhat pleasant. For example, my paint smells like berry yogurt. And of course you will not torment yourself and those around you with a thermonuclear smell, it is washed off immediately after staining. However, I want to say that not all manufacturers of professional dyes are so sensitive to perfume in their products: I came across one dye, the smell of which was washed off only the third time, and turned her house into gas chamber.

If you changed your mind and decided to get away from staining with household dye, then everything is not so simple here either. Due to the poorly purified coloring pigment, which is in the composition, it is sometimes difficult to remove the color that is firmly entrenched in your hair.

You probably thought it was great. Rejoice early, my dears: this ill-fated pigment is not only toxic, but also horror spoils your hair. Even if you conduct an experiment and dye one half of the girl's hair with household dye, and the other half with professional dye, the quality of the hair will differ enormously. And there is no need to write now that you have been using only your favorite dyes from the nearest supermarket for many years, and your hair is in excellent condition. I give 5% for the fact that you are lucky and you have naturally beautiful hair, which you constantly look after. And 95% - that the concept of healthy and beautiful hair is different with you: what you think is a beautiful head of hair, in fact, is just worn out dry hair.

For those who like to just buy a box with everything you need at once and not torment your head, it may be a disadvantage that the dye and oxidant are sold separately. But wait, there is not much complicated here, they are sold in one store, where (if you're lucky) a consultant will help you with the choice. So, for example, in my last job we had a colorist who helped with the choice of color and oxidant based on the quality of your hair and the original color.

Colorist in order to achieve the desired shade (or vice versa - get rid of the unwanted) can use mix tones. They are in every line of professional paints. In the line of colors for household dyes, in fact, there is a very meager choice.

I draw your attention to the fact that not all professional dyes are so good. Among them there are representatives with not the best composition and smell. Let's not exclude the fact that not all hairdressers are excellent colorists, and they can spoil the hair well with improper use of dye. We will talk about this in more detail, if interested - put a "thumbs up".

This is not an advertisement for professional paints. Unfortunately, all at once the manufacturers of professional dyes do not pay me extra. It's a pity :-))
