There are a lot of rumors and speculations about split ends of hair. There are both external reasons for the appearance and internal ones. I think some of you have come across such a situation: we don’t use a hairdryer, we don’t use an iron, we don’t dye our hair, but the ends, such infections, are cut anyway.
Let's take a look at the causes of split ends. Believe it, there are a lot of them ;-)
What concerns external factors:
1. Hot styling
Everyone knows about it. But it is worth repeating that frequent styling with a hot hairdryer, curling iron and irons - dry the hair.
2. Very long hair
As much as we want it, but long hair begins to break and split. This is because hair of this length lacks the nourishment produced by the sebaceous glands. It simply does not reach, and if it did reach the ends of long hair, it would disrupt the sebaceous glands and, as a result, the formation of dandruff.
3. Improper hair care
I very often mention this in articles, but repetition is the mother of learning! Terry towels, which we use to dry our hair, are very dry and injure the hair. Move them away and replace with silk or microfiber towels.
4. Combing wet hair without conditioning
You can comb wet hair only carefully. Make sure you have enough leave-in conditioner on your hair to make it easier to comb. You need to start combing your hair from the ends, gradually rising higher.
5. No hat in winter and poor sun protection in summer
In winter, we do not wear a hat so as not to spoil the styling, but we do not even suspect that by doing so we are doing much worse for our hair. Cold air in winter impairs the blood supply to the hair follicles, which in turn affects the nutrition of the hair and its structure.
In summer, UV rays dry out your hair, dehydrating it. Here you can save yourself with hair products with an SPF filter, but in strong sun, a headdress is required.
6. Hair coloring, bleaching and chemical treatments
Any dye, even the most gentle one, dries the hair to some extent, which leads to split ends. Bleaching, lightening, chemical curling - all this leads to the destruction of the hair structure.
7. Frequent and prolonged combing of hair.
A comb, whatever one may say, injures the hair structure. And if you still do it for a long time and inaccurately, then in the future you will be provided with cut ends.
I want to say that my hair does not split at all, while I use a hair dryer and an iron 2-3 times a week, often forget about thermal protection, dye my hair and do a haircut about once every six months. And this just suggests that not always external mistakes in hair care can be the cause of the section and fragility of hair.
What concerns external factors:
1. Diseases of the scalp and hair
Psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and other diseases of the scalp lead to a change in the structure of the hair, its thinning and, as a result, dryness and sectioning.
2. Diseases of the internal organs
From diseases of the kidneys, liver and gastrointestinal tract depends on how not only your hair looks. And the blame is the poor absorption of useful vitamins and minerals.
3. Lack of vitamins and minerals
Hair needs vitamins A, all vitamins of group B, C, E, D, H, F, PP. Minerals that are essential for the health and beauty of hair: calcium, magnesium, zinc, silicon.
4. Lack of water
Not only the hair, but literally everything in our body suffers from the lack of drinking water. Get in the habit of keeping track of how much clean water you drink per day and adjust your intake for yourself.
5. Heredity
You can't do anything with this, no matter how hard you try. We all have different chemical composition and structure of hair, it's not just that hair can identify criminals to criminologists.
In this case, it is only possible not to worsen the condition of the hair and maintain it with proper care.
Which of these reasons did you not know or did not think about?
In the next article I will talk about how to deal with split ends and it's not just scissors. If interested - put your "thumbs up" and subscribe to the channel.
