Full brand and second-hand: about boots for 10,000 rubles and a blouse for 3 euros

Once I happened to write an article about branded clothing and its eternal opposition to Asian consumer goods. I love to dive into such multifaceted topics, but when you yourself have an ambiguous attitude towards either one or the other, it is difficult to abstract from it.

It is useless to argue who is right here, because for a person who dresses cheap and cheerful, the feeling self-confidence acquired by another homo sapiens by dressing the camp in a dress with an attractive label, quite different. It seems not that ephemeral, but a manifestation, first of all, of extreme extravagance (yes, I would right now for these I would light money in Turkey!), and secondly, with cowardice (this money could help orphanages and the elderly).

And the devil (or just a friend and colleague) in Prada says, drowsy: "She (Prada) gives me confidence, marks my status (or creates it)." And besides, she is worth her money, because Miuccia (that's the name of the aunt with the surname Prada) went to her my sleepless nights while I was thinking about the design, color and future advertising campaign, in which more. In short, this is nonsense. Oh, sorry... Brand!

Used

In Russia, they often openly disdain second-hand goods, while European residents treat them with almost sacred awe. Because there you can buy something original for a penny. More precisely, for cents. Because people with low incomes can dress well there. Because there you can find brands for the same penny. That is, for cents. But our brother doesn't want a worn Prada, even if it looks like it just stepped off the Milan catwalk.

In small European second-hand shops, the crowd is the same as in Soviet stores in times of shortage. Moreover, there are things of an absolutely obscene kind, with spots of ketchup, utterly stretched, all in pellets... But women of different ages take THIS! Because IT costs 1-3 euros, and they do not like to bother with their appearance, preferring to spend money on something else.

And our second-hand shops are often empty. Two of my favorite blouses, which fit perfectly on my irregular waist, were bought in the same European second-hand for 3 euros. But as soon as I admit this, I see how an interested and enthusiastic expression on his face is replaced by a bewildered, disgusted one.

Boots for 10 thousand

“Boots for 10 thousand” is already a stable expression for me, because I have heard about them at least twice. About the same.

Once a colleague over a cup of coffee:

“Katya is something impenetrable, unimaginable! I bought myself boots for 10 thousand! She could choose something cheaper, not worse in quality, but she didn’t want to, motivating it by the fact that she didn’t find herself in the trash, so everything that she had could be spent on boots. But she shoots them on the subway in the first month! »

At the same time Katya:

“Finally, at least I bought myself normal boots, for 10 thousand. How can you put on your favorite feet shoes for 3 thousand? It's not to respect yourself. "

After all, you deserve it!

Obsession with brands, like indifference to what you are wearing, does not always depend on wealth and opportunities. Such people seem crazy to others.

A person who can afford everything or almost everything will certainly be reproached for stinginess if he saves and buys something cheaper, although there is nothing wrong with that. It's great when a person knows the value of money and knows how to count it.

Steve Jobs and the "evolution" of his images. Simple but not cheap jeans and a turtleneck have become the hallmark of a genius IT specialist

But there is another side - when a person with an average income, diligently saves money, saving up for something with a beautiful label that will give him significance. And the devil on his shoulder whispers to him in an advertising voice: "After all, you deserve it!"

I once worked for a publication where everyone was obsessed with brands and a beautiful life. Then I found out that there are women in this world who buy themselves a Fendi handbag or a Gucci strap, who objectively cannot afford, and then live from hand to mouth for the whole month, eating only buckwheat and rollton. But this bag or belt warms their souls, since they should not (and cannot) warm their bodies. But how can you do without them? After all, you deserve it!

Small joys of big brand mania

On the one hand, clothes with the desired logo are a kind of pass to the world and good mood, and self-confidence, and for a prestigious job - after all, this is notorious clothes, according to which meet.

On the other hand, there are people who live and feel great and look in what they contemptuously call consumer goods, and more decently - a consumer product, a mass market. And then the passion for branded entourage is born from insecurity, from disharmony with oneself, when they try to drown out the void with a powerful piece of clothing for a round sum, as if plugging it with a cork.

With age and experience, I learned not to be surprised and not to blame either one or the other, because everyone has the right to make their own choice, even if it is strange and irrational. For some, it is modest, and has a different function, except for covering and warming, for others it smells like the boutique luxury of Prada.

By golly, Prada owes me extra to advertise in this post. After all, I deserve it!
