Agrenox was the name given to an unusual mixture of aspirin and curantil. But now he's gone

They say that Agrenoks has not been in pharmacies for a year. I explain why it was conceived.

Agrenox mixed Aspirin with Curantil. Moreover, Kurantil is there slowly releasing (barely uttered). That's cool!

So... where did I start? Oh yes... Agrenox was conceived as a highly specialized drug for the secondary prevention of stroke.

Secondary prevention is when the first stroke has already grumbled, and now it is necessary to prevent the second. Because the second will finish.

We have already discussed anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents.

Anticoagulants

Anticoagulants are needed where blood flows slowly and can turn into a clot-jelly.

It happens in the veins of the legs. There blood sometimes just stands like in a swamp.

It also happens in the left atrial appendage during atrial fibrillation.

With atrial fibrillation, the atria do not contract, but tremble finely. The blood hangs in them like in a shaker, and a clot can form like butter churning out of cream.

If a clot from the heart flies to the brain, then a stroke will result.

Anticoagulants prevent clots from forming in such standing blood.

Now about antiplatelet agents

Antiplatelet agents do not act on jelly, but on platelets. This method is simpler, but it is suitable for the arteries of the brain.

A kissel-like clot forms in veins or in the heart, but this usually does not happen in normal arteries. There is no blood in the arteries of the brain either. She flies there with a whistle.

There, platelets are more important.

Platelets are able to transform into such tentacled cephalopods and grab whatever floats nearby. They will grab a bunch of rubbish and block the artery with this rubbish. You can't wash off such monsters with a fast flow of blood.

Therefore, in order to prevent the formation of blood clots in the arteries, it is sometimes enough to slap on the hands (or on the tentacles) of these same platelets. The platelets will no longer be enough for everyone, and no clot will work. This is how antiplatelet agents work. It is very comfortable. You can do without dangerous anticoagulants.

And aspirin was traditionally used to prevent strokes. It is a good antiplatelet agent. And then the absolutely gorgeous, but expensive Plavix appeared. He was better than Aspirin in all respects.

Scientists felt offended for Aspirin, and they planted Curantil in one pill.

Curantil had been asking for antiplatelet drugs for a long time, but he was not accepted. He's too weak. As an independent means, it is ineffective. But together with Aspirin, Curantil finally felt real and very useful.

The result is the following mathematical expression: "Plavix" = "Aspirin" + "Courantil".

That is, if you do not have money for Plavix, then take Agrenox (Aspirin + Curantil).

Sly? Sly. Only here, for some reason, Agrenox (while he was still alive) cost the same as Plavix. This not normal. But now Agrenox is gone, and Plavix remained. So you are not in the throes of choice.

Well, here it should be noted that Kurantil often has a headache, so there he deserves.

Is it clear?
