Hello! I have been a doctor for 21 years. My name is Georgy Olegovich Sapego. In this article I will tell you about the insidiousness of the coronavirus and the stupidity of people who are weird with medicines.
There are no treatment details in this article. If you are impatient to give up the medication, then be sure to consult your doctor.
Where does the virus attack us?
When the coronavirus attacks us, it first attaches to receptors on the cell surface. The coronavirus chose angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) as a receptor on our cells.
The name of this enzyme is consonant with all known blood pressure drugs, which are called ACE inhibitors. The only difference is that in the first case we are talking about APF2, and in the latter - just APF (without number 2).
These enzymes act in exactly the opposite way on blood pressure. ACE makes harmful angiotensin and increases blood pressure. He is bad.
ACE2 breaks down harmful angiotensin and lowers blood pressure. Thanks to him for that.
The virus floods the lungs
The virus enters the cell through the unfortunate ACE2 and prevents it from working normally. That is, there will be no magical effect of APF2 in terms of pressure reduction. Only his twin brother APF will remain. Which is bad.
The evil twin will do a lot of harmful angiotensin. This will make the blood vessels in the lungs permeable to water. You will get swelling that you can die from.
This is the insidiousness of the coronavirus. It attacks the lungs, triggers inflammation there, and then also floods the lungs with water.
Fortunately, we have the magical angiotensin receptor blocker drugs. The idea was that they would block angiotensin and the water would not flood the lungs. But there is a catch.
These magical angiotensin receptor blockers cause cells to grow many new ACE2s on them.
Have you forgotten APF2 yet? This is a useful thing in terms of reducing pressure and at the same time an entrance gate for the virus. It turns out that magic blockers strengthen the lungs, but let in more and more new viruses.
Here we already have to hope for immunity. He must kill viruses while magic blockers protect the lungs from being flooded with water.
The second catch
Everything would be wonderful, and patients in the Chinese intensive care unit would be treated with magical angiotensin receptor blockers, but there is a second big BUT.
These magical drugs are great at lowering our blood pressure. And the patients in the Chinese intensive care unit are already barely alive and practically in shock. Their blood pressure has already dropped below the baseboard. They can be killed with such antihypertensive drugs. It's a shame.
So no one will experiment with angiotensin receptor blockers now. They do not treat patients with coronavirus pneumonia. Scientists will count. They will watch and monitor what happened to those infected, who had previously taken these blockers for high blood pressure.
If blockers saved someone from death, they may be declared a useful medicine. And if they didn’t save it, it means that no one will declare these medicines useful.
There has been a lot of speculation on this topic. Ask in the comments and I'll explain it to you.
