Ibrahim Pasha, becoming the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire, very often put himself on the same level with the sovereign, which often caused the indignation and discontent of the people. Only not everyone would dare to inform the sovereign about the megalomania of the pasha.
However, such a person was found, and it was Iskander Chelebi, who informed Suleiman about the greatness of his grand vizier.
It is clear that Ibrahim did not need such a person next to the Sultan, and he did his best to remove the wrong person from his path.
Going on a military campaign against the Perseus, Suleiman appoints Iskander as the right hand of Ibrahim, thus unknown to that, signs the death warrant to the chief treasurer.
There were many intrigues and intrigues in this campaign, but Ibrahim again emerged victorious, substituting Iskander.
When the sovereign sent his armor to Ibrahim, the grand vizier rose and began to call himself Sultan Ibrahim, about which Iskender immediately told the sovereign in a letter.
Suleiman has already noticed more than once that Ibrahim is proud and wants to rule the whole world, and upon arrival at the military camp, in front of everyone, said to Ibrahim:
“My armor will not make you a sultan.
Ibrahim understood who, reported to the sovereign, and decided to get rid of him by the hands of the sultan himself.
Ibrahim vilified Deterdar, accusing him of stealing money from the treasury and the loss of an army in the Persian operation.
A military council was held, at which his own people testified against Iskender, fearing Ibrahim's anger, and the verdict was passed - to condemn him by hanging.
Suleiman had to take the decision of the military council and agree to the execution. Although later he greatly regretted it.
After the trial, Iskender's loyal friend and servant, Rustem, was greatly saddened that Ibrahim did not go unnoticed.
Then he said:
- It will be an instructive lesson for all who dare to stand between me and the master.
