Since the beginning of the new academic year, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has published guidelines that will guide schools. According to the document, a major change in the school system should not be expected. For example, younger students in the 2017-2018 academic year will be trained under the program approved by the Ministry of Education in the past, in 2016.
Also, the same will be the list of compulsory subjects for primary school children: the Ukrainian language, mathematics, literary reading, natural sciences, labor training, I am in the world, science, fine arts, physical education, foreign languages, music, the basics health. But now MES enables school administrators in its sole discretion to replace part of the lessons of Physical Education other, more urgent, in its view, objects. However, with the caveat that these items should involve physical activity. For example, it can be swimming, choreography, modern dance, and so on. D.
In addition, relevant departments recommends not assign homework kids-first-graders. As well as tips on free jobs on holidays, vacations and weekends older kids who attend class 2-4 primary school. By the way, these recommendations are consistent with the opinion on this matter of child psychologists who recommend not to ask job at home to first-graders. At the same time, in their opinion, the child in the 4th grade should not spend on home activities more than 1.5 hours.
"Teachers are given the freedom of choice of forms of organization of the educational process and the ability to self-transfer the lessons determine the number of hours to study certain topics, depending on the students' assimilation of material required, "- said in a document.
In addition, the Ministry recommends not to put in the first class ratings, and the second to introduce evaluation system only by the decision of the school teachers' council. Adding estimates in the report card in the 2-4 classes will be conducted only in several subjects: the Ukrainian language, mathematics, natural history, and literary reading.
Also this year, we should not expect changes in the structure of the school year. Despite the fact that many experts recommend to divide the school year into trimesters instead of semesters (ie, not 4 parts, and 6 equal parts) to help evenly distribute the burden on students, while all remain without changes.
As expected, the reform of the structure of the school year will come into force no earlier than 2018. In the meantime, according to a letter from the Ministry of Education 07.06.2017 years №1 / 9-315 «About structure of the 2017-2018 academic year" classes in general education institutions regardless of their subordination, types and forms of ownership due to begin the Day of Knowledge - September 1 and end no later than 1 July 2018.
The academic year is divided into two semesters: from September 1 to December 22, 2017 and from January 10 to May 31, 2018. Accordingly, the holidays are: Autumn: October 30 - November 5, 2017; Winter: December 25, 2017 - January 9, 2018; Spring: March 26 - April 1, 2018; summer - from the end of the academic year to August 31, 2018.
