Traditional decorative candles from beeswax and paraffin - an integral part of the festive decor. And here is a clear gel used in the work less, but allows you to create original compositions. In the manufacture of candles must be careful, so older children can participate in only with adults! Children will be laid decor, and adults - to melt and pour gel mixture.
So, we need:
√ transparent glass or plastic container with a diameter of at least 5 cm non-flammable!Which should be easily removed after the pour candles
√ glycerin
√ colorless gelatin
√ Tannin (tannic substance belonging to the class of phenolic compounds).
These materials are sold at hardware stores and pharmacies, but you can buy ready-made gel candles, it is transparent and colored.
√ The wick (ready reinforced with thin metal wire inside or cotton, made independently from the conventional approach wick paraffin candles)
√ Essential oil gel candles (aromatic oil from the store cosmetics unsuitable!Also do not use pink air - the smell is very unpleasant when burning)
√ Nonflammable! inlay (shells, pebbles and other marine theme objects; dried flowers, buds dried, fine pitch and whole chamomile flowers, immortelle, marigold, Chernobrivtsev; beautiful seeds and spices of various shapes; cones, grass, colorful leaves, pieces of bark and other natural materials; plastic, ceramic, textile and decor; Dried citrus slices, cinnamon sticks, coffee beans).
Step 1st: Soak gelatin in cold water in a proportion of 5 to 20, after 40 minutes, the mixture podogreem, stirring continuously, until complete dissolution of the gelatin.
Step 2nd:Volem prepared in glycerol solution in a volume of 25 parts. In separate bowl soluble tannin 2 parts in 10 parts of glycerol and slightly podogreem volem mixture in the first solution.
Step third:Herewith the resulting mass to boil and wait until the turbid suspension disappear. If we use the finished gel, need to cut it into small pieces and melt in a metal bowl on a water bath temperature of 93 degrees (!), when the temperature will be greater or water gets in the gel, it will lose transparency.
Step 4th: Ready-made forms - should be laid on the decor, set the wick (it should not touch the decor), fixing it at the bottom of the hot glue, pour glycerin composition. The free end of the wick can be wound on a stick or pencil, then we can arrange it vertically, and then pour the excess candle cut. For self-manufacturing wick take different color yarn, weaving / associate them as pigtails or harness cord, crocheting or macrame art.
We do not recommend to put the gel in paper pictures, photos, materials and plastic toys that can catch fire (!)
Step 5th:After cooling, take out the plug from the mold (or subject in a form beautiful if the vessel), to omit this vessel in hot water to the upper layer jelly warmed for a few seconds.
Gel candles burn without odor. And in glycerine can be dissolved, and a bit of food coloring to make a candle with a color tint, if you add more colors, while rotating forms get interesting color combinations. Paints can be added using a conventional medical syringe, "drawing" in the not yet hardened mixture fantasy figures.
Interesting idea: located in the mass of gel wax / wax candle with a wick that will burn without affecting the decor. Outside of a glass container with a frozen gel decorate themed items (fit even paper clips), tie the ribbon. Even if in the process of creativity in the gel turned bubbles, they will look romantic!
