- Viktoria, what is the main problem preterm pregnancy, in your opinion?
- Among the reasons in the first place social issues. Today, women are actively working, plus much moved forward nulliparous age - women now allows himself to give birth to first child when she was already thirty-three. At the same time I can not say that it is very late, there is another question: women are not quite right about their pregnancy. All business woman, all the work in the first place, all the driving.
Even here, I would have reacted the increase in performance of so-called "EKOshnoy pregnancy" when conception occurs via assisted reproductive technologies, after which a large percentage - premature birth. And I do not know why these women to continue wearing. Either they were not examined, as it should be, then this technology have still not up to par ...
- What is the increase in the number of women who dared to artificial insemination? From despair?
- I think they just do not want to delve into the problem, find the fastest way to solve it. I personally know a few couples who are completely healthy, have lived together for a couple of years, decided that they could not get pregnant on their own and went on to IVF.
- But it is doubtful whether it is correct?
- I also think that this is not quite right (laughs). The second reason why in our country is quite a large percentage of full-term pregnancy, in my opinion, is forgetting the huge reservoir of educational work. Modern boys and especially girls, unfortunately, not all the way (or not so well) understand what a normal pregnancy self, and with them we are not talking about it. It also includes a very large percentage of interrupted pregnancies and infections. We do not conduct a conversation with the children, and the result is an almost complete lack of responsibility on their part and the absolute unpreparedness for motherhood.
- What are the main problems in premature babies?
- You know, five years ago, we thought that a child born with a weight of 1600 - it's a disaster. Today, these kids we are no longer considered a problem, we have learned to their nurse. Today is a special difficulty are the so-called deep premature babies (born before 30 weeks, with an extremely low body weight, 500 g) in which the underdeveloped organs, respiratory system (BPD - bronchopulmonary dysplasia), circulation. These children with hearing problems (they can be congenital deafness), eye, neurological, and in the future, and psycho-emotional problems.
These kids are we up to six months. 3-4 months on average. And mothers are with their children, and they too, the problems begin. Well, imagine you are a few months in a confined space. As far as possible we try to create conditions for them - come to them fathers, grandmothers, mothers let the hairdresser, our psychologists work with them.
- Being in such conditions, mothers do not begin to hate their children?
- No children, but ourselves - almost all. At some time they have a turning point, they always cry, become aggressive. In order to somehow defuse the situation, we invite mothers who have already been with us a course of treatment with their babies. They come, they say, as they, too, was difficult and how they coped, console, saying that sooner or later all will be well. They are always connected our staff psychologists.
- After kids write out how they live on? They all categories of special ...
- Of course, moms are facing, first of all, to the fact that in our country is not enough specialized professionals that could properly deal with such kids. In the world has long been practiced catamnesis system - follow-up after discharge. This system is specially designed for premature babies: the group includes a pediatrician, psychologist, recreation therapist, nurse and social worker. And my mother should know that it can at any time to come to this center, where she examined the baby, they see problems that need further treatment. This is called early intervention.
- In Ukraine, there are such centers?
- Not.
- In other words, the state is not taking part in the problem of premature babies?
- This is our next challenge. Perinatal Center - a very good idea, simply gorgeous, and we all rejoiced, when Ukraine began to implement it. We were second in a row after the center of Kirovograd, but then... Then we were adrift.
- That is, the funding comes as a regular maternity hospital?
- Exactly. And because we are not the usual maternity hospital, we need special equipment, qualified personnel, that this equipment can work, plus as equipment wears out, must also contain technical staff. We, of course, are very helpful to various charities - arrange the various auctions, races, lotteries, but in general, unfortunately, most of the costs borne by mothers.
- And the sponsors? In our country it is still quite rich.
- You know, I think, the perinatal center should not be a problem of rich people. The state launched a great idea, but now you must take it to a certain degree.
Can you imagine what a difficult situation we have with the human resources? We have doctors, nurses trained - great work, but offer a private hospital, where wages are, of course, more and people go there. And we have to start all over again. Among other things, the work itself in the perinatal center is not easy, so let's be honest. Many will work one or two on duty and leave.
- What makes "no burn" those who remain?
- It seems to me to work with these children - is, first and foremost, a vocation. People here are really enthusiasts of the business, they want to and, most importantly, love what they do. Here, for example, head of pediatric intensive care Tyszkiewicz Valeria - you look at a person and you know - that's it. It literally is here for days, and her daughter was admitted to the medical school, will also be a neonatologist.
On the other hand, I have a feeling that we are all something to give less to their families, because the main energy goes to work. We do not have holidays, normal weekend holidays we arrive just in time beyond the family and a job. Frankly, I constantly live with the feeling that did not give their children the mother's warmth, which was supposed to give. I gave this work.
- Your kids too, doctors?
- Yes, unfortunately (laughs). I begged them to choose another profession, wanted to live in a family, not at work, but, alas, - and son and daughter chose my path.
