5 interior mistakes that every apartment has

If you want your apartment to look stylish, never do that.

Most of the interiors of our compatriots are similar to each other. Once upon a time, all available furniture was in principle almost the same, then there was a fashion for European-style repairs, arches, walls for living rooms - and all the renovated apartments became similar again. Although the furniture and decor market is so diverse now that you can create an interior in absolutely any style, many people make mistakes that prevent their home from looking stylish.

To refresh the interior and make it more modern, cozy and attractive, it is enough to fix just a few mistakes.

Outdated textiles

Towels with stains that won't wash off and holes in them, bedding in gaudy colors that also torn in places, worn sofa upholstery, which was torn by a cat - all this prevents your home from looking neatly. It is better to replace all the "diversity" of towels and bed linen with plain sets of pleasant shades, and for the bed, buy a plain bedspread that will cover it during the day.

Furniture with torn, shabby and obsolete upholstery needs to be replaced or reupholstered on it. Particular attention should be paid to curtains and tulle. In order not to create visual noise, they should be solid. The fabric on the windows really makes the room more comfortable, but we suggest you think: do you really need curtains or is light tulle enough? Without heavy curtains, you will not only get rid of the extra dust collector, but also freshen up the atmosphere in your home, visually there will be more space in it, the space will look lighter.

Flowers on the windowsill

I'm sure you're now thinking: "What's so-and-so?" Yes, everyone puts them there, but there is no place for plants on the windowsill. Near the window, indoor flowers have a great chance to get under the direct rays of the sun or suffer from cold and drafts. In addition, this is an unfortunate interior solution.

How to do it in style? Buy planters in the same style so that they blend with other furniture in the room. Distribute flowers on bedside tables, chests of drawers, coffee tables, special racks, hang on the wall or ceiling. If you have a lot of plants and they make up a significant amount of space, then it is better to analyze whether you really need so many of them - or it's time to free up some space.

Often, indoor plants stand almost all the time on balconies - and not creating any special interior there, but simply "crowding". So they do not help clean the air, do not create a mood, but are simply "in exile" and sometimes receive a portion of water and fertilizer. Don't "collect" plants for no reason or because your parents did. Leave the ones that you really like, and in the amount that you have time to take care of them and dust them off.

Crystal Chandelier

A classic chandelier with light bulbs in "candlesticks", you need to dust it for a long and tedious time, and children's games periodically deprive it of one of the "crystals". Who didn't have one? Or maybe you still have it?

Once upon a time, such a chandelier gave the impression of a rich interior, but now it looks like a relic of the past, even if it was bought recently. Yes, such chandeliers are still sold, they are expensive and needed by those who want to make it “rich”, but such a piece of furniture has nothing to do with style and convenience.

How to replace such a chandelier? You can refuse general lighting and divide it into zones. Leave instead of a chandelier with 6 lamps, for example, a minimalist lamp with 1-2 lamps, and also add a sconce in the same style or a floor lamp for reading.

Excess beige

If the first "post-Soviet" renovations brought silk wallpaper with bright colors and classic furniture to the apartments, then the second - total beige. Some time ago, it was fashionable to make the interior "neutral" and literally everyone did it. As a result, a dwelling with beige walls, beige floors and beige furniture looks just boring.

How to fix it? Globally - change the color of walls, furniture, bring contrast and new shades. If you are not ready for repairs yet, then color accents can be placed using decor. It is enough to choose 1-2 colors additional to beige - if there are too many shades, then visual noise will turn out. For example, olive and pale pink, aquamarine and brown, orange or bright yellow will complement a beige interior well.

The most classic combination will create soft shades of green and brown. In these shades, you can buy photo frames, curtains, bedspreads, table lamps, flower pots, decorative pillows and other interior items.

visual noise

It can be created by incorrectly selected patterns in the interior (vegetal with geometric, stripes with circles, etc.), not pieces of furniture that match in style, an overabundance of decor (paintings, carpets, photo frames, vases, souvenirs - and all this in one room). Also, visual noise is created by any objects that do not have their own place or they do not perform any functions.

If you have a whole rack of books that no one ever reads - think about whether you need it. Or the coffee table that everyone at home stumbles over but never uses. Or shelves on which there is always something to put, but in general you don’t need them. Analyze the space around you: what do you really use, and what is "dead weight". Even things from a massive furniture "wall" can often be placed in a more compact closet, if you get rid of the extra and long-forgotten ones that have been there for years.

The aerobatics of getting rid of visual noise is the organization of stylish storage. That is, not just arrange items on the shelves, but also use boxes / jars / baskets in the same style and color to store them. For example, in the kitchen, products in packaging create a lot of visual noise. After all, it is designed in such a way as to attract your attention in the store. And if there are a lot of such packages in the kitchen, then it is all "replete" with brands.

Transfer what you can to jars and storage containers: for example, tea, coffee, spices, cereals, pasta, salt, sugar. Choose to store them in one-color stylish containers in the same style - and your kitchen will instantly change, and additional space will appear on the shelves.
