During pregnancy, everyone is tested for syphilis. But there is no need to panic if it gave a positive result.
The reasons for this result can lie both in rare diseases - lupus, phospholipid syndrome - and in quite ordinary things.
Here are three reasons that can lead to a false positive syphilis test.
1. Hearty food. If before taking the test you ate something hearty, fatty and especially meat, then you should not be surprised at the positive result.
2. Infections. And the most diverse, up to enterovirus. The body produces antibodies to them, which can be very similar to antibodies to syphilis.3. Pregnancy. Oddly enough, the very fact of pregnancy can give a false positive result for syphilis. Most often this happens a few weeks before delivery, but can be in other trimesters.
If at least one factor was present during the analysis, you need to pass it again to clarify the result.
