Recently, I often come across books based on Soviet cinema. And often adaptations do not fully correspond to the original source. It’s just that the scriptwriters take the characters from the work as the basis, play the brightest episodes from the books, and be sure to bring something of their own that will evoke vivid emotions in the audience. And the film "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears" was no exception. How did the fate of the main characters, three girlfriends with different destinies, actually develop?
In the film itself, the motivation for many of the actions of the characters is somehow blurred, but in the book by Valentin Chernykh, the reasons for certain actions are clearly spelled out. Let's compare the fate of the characters from the book with their stories that we watched in the film.
Ludmila
In the film, Lyudmila is a real hunter for men. She sets herself the goal of snatching a richer fiancé and building a happy life with him. And here is a happy occasion: a famous hockey player, whom she marries, begins to flirt with Luda. But, years later, the man simply cannot stand the glory that has fallen on him, and begins to drink heavily. Already in the second part of the film, Lyudmila works in a dry cleaner, she has no children, she does not live with her husband, he constantly begs her for money. But the heroine still continues to believe in the best.
In the book, Lyudmila still tries to get married more successfully, only her fate unfolds much more interesting. Even in marriage, Luda realizes that she is unhappy, and begins to look for her beloved, she has many novels. In her youth, Lyudmila meets a KGB officer, her man is much older, he is married, but they still start an affair. The KGB officer immediately tells his mistress that he is not going to ruin his marriage, and Lyudmila just occasionally meets him for 20 years. It is with this man that she feels loved, desired and happy woman, so she does not break the vicious connection. Moreover, the lover looks after the woman very beautifully - gives gifts, helps with advice, and even arranges her for a successful industry. Lyudmila falls in love with a man, and when he loses his wife, a hint of an imminent wedding appears in the book.
Antonina
In both the novel and the film, Tonya marries Nikolai and lives a long life with him. A normal average family, they have a separate apartment, a summer cottage, three children. Tonya is the prototype of many Soviet women.
Only in Chernykh's book does he describe the heroine in such a way that she even feels sorry for her. Life for her is a vicious circle, from which she does not even try to get out, everything is the same, dull, and Antonina does not feel happy at all.
Ekaterina
The heroine, who in the film was very burned by love. How many tears were shed, how much suffering, how much Katya had to endure with a small child in her arms. Viewers are not shown exactly how Ekaterina becomes a director. And in the second series of the film, Gosha appears, for whom she has real feelings.
In the book by Valentin Chernykh, the image of Catherine is more complex. For example, a lot of text is devoted to how Katya is growing in the professional field. She, because she is an unhappy single mother, is helped by absolutely everyone. And the first assistant is her mother, and also a relative-academician. The trade union takes her under its wing, and the head of the plant knocks out benefits for her. But Katya herself is quite punchy, purposeful and capable.
As for the relationship between Gosha and Katya, there are some discrepancies in the book and in the film. For example, Katya in the novel immediately tells her lover who she is and who she works for, but he does not believe her, and when he finds out that she told the truth, for some reason he is offended.
