It is not difficult for a child to grow long hair, it is more difficult to keep the hair. A British schoolboy is being forced to cut his hair so he can attend classes. What did mom think?

What problems can be associated with long hair? Difficulties in care, high consumption of shampoo, the need to braid them every day? It turns out, not only that. In conservative British schools, because of long hair, they refuse to accept students at a desk. True, not all, but only the boys. This is the injustice faced by nine-year-old Farouk James from Fulham, London, who is literally forced to cut his chic curls. To defend the rights of the child, the mother found a non-standard way out of the situation.

Farooq James is an aspiring model and a true Instagram star. More than 260,000 people have subscribed to his page, and all because of his luxurious hair. His head of hair is amazing: airy curly hair envelops the child in a real cloud. This is not only the pride of the boy, but also a source of constant income for the family. Thanks to his unusual appearance, he managed to work with the leading modeling agencies in the world. At the age of 9, Farouk has walked children's fashion shows in Florence, Paris and New York, and has also been the face of Guess' children's clothing line.

To maintain the beauty of her hair, Farouk spends a lot of time on hair care. He washes his hair with mineral water and uses half a bottle of shampoo at a time. After that, mom combs his curls for at least half an hour. Still, after all, in a straightened state, the child's hair now descends below the waist. From the age of two, Faruk did not cut his hair - at most, he trimmed the ends at the hairdresser's. The boy seriously believes that "scissors are for paper, not for hair."

In elementary school, the child is allowed to walk with long hair. The main requirement of teachers is that they should be pinned up and not get into the eyes. But in a year, Farouk is due to go to high school, and here unexpected problems arose. Most London educational institutions are very conservative and have strict rules regarding the appearance of students. Boys are strictly forbidden to wear long hair, a short haircut is required. So in order to continue his studies, Farouk will have to cut off his luxurious curls.

Farouk even in his thoughts does not allow a short haircut: he has long considered hair an integral part of his image. Therefore, his mother, Bonnie Miller (Bonnie Miller), is now actively looking for ways out of the situation. The woman has already created a petition in which she demands to cancel the ban on long hair for boys in British schools. She believes that this ban infringes on the rights of the child, and, moreover, is a clear gender discrimination. After all, girls in schools are not forced to have their hair cut.

If the petition does not get the required number of votes and the ban is not lifted, Bonnie has found another loophole in the law. In order to preserve the son's right to wear long hair, he can be recognized as non-binary - that is, gender-fluid. Simply put, a child who has not decided whether he is a boy or a girl. It turns out that for queers (a collective term for all people with a non-standard gender identity) in British society, there are much fewer prohibitions and restrictions. Representatives of the LGBT community are zealously fighting for their rights, and no one wants to come into conflict with them.

However, Bonnie herself believes that such measures will not come to pass, and hopes that the petition will bring results. Still, we live in a modern society where a lot of attention is paid to the concept of personality and the right of children to self-expression. Forcing children to cut their hair is the last century, she says. Not only girls, but also boys should have the right to dispose of their hair at their own discretion. By the way, Bonnie and her son are actively supported by subscribers in social networks. Many write that Farouk inspired their children to grow their hair. And mom is advised not to give up and break the outdated and absurd rules.
