I must say that Nikolai's hands were just golden, he always did his job efficiently and beautifully. Therefore, Tamara Petrovna, without even doubting anything, decided to turn to her son-in-law. It was necessary to glue wallpaper, whitewash the ceiling, well, and linoleum had to be put. The rest of the woman planned to just clean up, and in principle the apartment would become very pretty. It was not yet affordable for Tamara Petrovna to change the plumbing, so she decided to postpone it until better times.
The woman discussed everything with her son-in-law, and bought the necessary materials. Everything was on a budget, but Tamara Petrovna herself no longer had strength because of her age, and therefore there was all hope for Nikolai. The man did not answer her anything concrete, he only said that he would call back later.
But Nikolai never called, but his wife called, i.e. daughter of Tamara Petrovna, and scolded her mother for forcing Kolya to solve her problems. Well, like, the man already has a lot of work, the mortgage needs to be paid, two children to feed. Now he will throw all his strength into renovating an apartment for his mother-in-law, and then what will they eat? And he didn't want to go to the outskirts. Tamara Petrovna was very offended. The son-in-law had a car, and it was close to go to her, why did the children take hostility towards her proposal? In addition, the woman herself never refused her daughter and son-in-law when they needed help. For example, she always agreed to sit with the children, she could take them to the garden or take them back, and she always gave them good gifts, never spared money.
But for some reason, the daughter tensed very much when she realized that her husband would have to make repairs for free, even if for the mother. In general, the couple was very surprised when Tamara Petrovna suddenly bought an apartment. They themselves mean that they live in a mortgage, Nikolai has to hang around at work for days on end. They thought that the mother lived from paycheck to paycheck, but she even managed to make a stash. The woman explained to her daughter that she had been saving up all her life, that there was a contribution at interest, so that she could later live separately, but she wanted to sell her apartment. It is scary to take a mortgage in old age, and then it is unlikely that she will be given. In general, the daughter listened to her mother, but did not change her opinion, she said that her husband had a lot of work, and he had no time to repair her apartment.
Tamara Petrovna had no choice but to start repairs herself. But the strength was barely enough for only half a day. My legs hurt terribly, my back also made itself felt, and in the evening the pressure jumped.
Then the woman decided to rent out the apartment, which she later planned to sell, and with the proceeds to make repairs, paying her son-in-law. When she told Nikolai everything, he immediately gave a positive answer. For the money, as it turned out, the son-in-law was ready for anything. And after 5 days the repair was completed!
How beautiful it became in the apartment. Indeed, Nikolai is a master of his craft! But now Tamara had no money at all. Although everything was resolved well, the woman had a very unpleasant aftertaste in her soul. Gradually Tamara Petrovna furnished the apartment, moving some furniture and appliances from her old living space. And to the children began to go less often, so only to see the grandchildren.
