The first Ronald McDonald House in Ukraine will appear on the basis of "Okhmatdet"

On November 30, a memorandum of understanding was signed for the construction of the country's first Ronald McDonald House. It was signed by the charitable organization "Ronald McDonald House Foundation in Ukraine", Ministry of Economy Of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National Children's Specialized Hospital "OKHMATDET" of the Ministry of Health Ukraine.

Construction of the first Ronald McDonald House with an approximate area of ​​2500 sq. m is planned in Kiev on the territory of the largest children's hospital in Ukraine "OKHMATDET". Up to 20,000 children from all over the country are treated here annually and approximately 10,000 operations are performed. It is planned to equip 50 separate rooms, which will be able to provide more than 18,000 free overnight stays per year for families in comfort and next to a child. This will save families tens of millions of hryvnias on accommodation and meals when the child is sick.

At the same time, this reduces the burden on hospitals, since the Ronald McDonald House will be able to accommodate patients undergoing outpatient treatment. So "OKHMATDET" will be able to provide medical assistance to a greater number of specialized patients. The completion of the construction of the House is scheduled for the end of 2023.

 There are already 381 such houses in the world, while in Ukraine there are only 5 family rooms in state children's hospitals in Kiev, Lvov, Sumy, Vinnitsa and Kharkov.

The signed memorandum between the Foundation, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the NSSB "OKHMATDET" is the manifestation of the state's attention to solving big problems of young patients and support within its competence for the implementation programs.
