What we are seeing now in mass-market stores is solid synthetics, the most simplified processing of products, but at the same time considerable prices. Have you noticed? Yes, it is difficult to deny the trend of falling quality and rising prices all the time, but now I see a big jump. Way down.
I don’t want to write that dressing in all these stores is bad, no. My position has always been this - you can find a good thing in H&M, Bershka, even Befree, but you have to try. You can leave several times empty-handed, because there is absolutely nothing worthy, and then once - and find something worthwhile, with a pleasant composition and a good cut.
For several years I was able to buy decent sweaters from H&M, finding my pearls among mountains of acrylic and polyester. This fall I never found a sweater with a good composition. A new collection is brought in, I look at the label composition - polyester 54%, acrylic 41% and lordly generosity - 5% wool. The price is 3299 rubles. My sweater before last year, by the way, contains 71% cotton, 28% acrylic and 1% wool. Cotton is much nicer and warmer.
Why do stores sell us this?
Prices are growing at a breakneck pace, and in order to stay in the same price segment, they make everything cheaper, raw materials in the first place. And instead of cotton, polyester is already used. The amount of acrylic in the composition is growing, now in the mass market there is a dominance of winter jumpers made of 100% acrylic. They are unpleasant to the body, cold, and squeaky to the touch.
We see a lot of raw edges on jeans, hoodies, blouses. A tribute to fashion? In such an amount, it's more likely just savings. For example, I like jeans with a raw edge for one simple reason - it's easy for me to cut them at home with scissors to fit my height of 158 cm, and not carry them in the atelier. Very convenient, practical and free. But I can't say that about hoodies, for example, that look sad.
Reduce the workforce without reducing the number of things produced (well, or not reducing enough). Therefore, the work is simplified.
What to do
Let's think about what options are possible for us. For some, it will be acceptable to move to the more expensive segment. Buy not 4 blouses for the season, but one, but better. More expensive segments, by the way, have also not been spared the tendency of decreasing quality, even the luxury suite is now often carried with angry reviews.
Slowly but surely, Russian manufacturers and small local brands are gaining popularity. The prices there are not budgetary, since the production does not have a scale, and not only because of this. The topic is also interesting, let's chat sometime.
But not everyone can afford to take a decent jumper for 8-12 thousand, salaries do not grow with prices. Second-hand shops are becoming more and more popular.
I personally know a woman with excellent taste who has put together a very decent wardrobe there. Long and painstaking, but she gets great pleasure from shopping, from the very process of searching. Saving money, caring for the environment, conscientious consumption - it's all about second hand.
Also, more and more often women find themselves something on Wildberries, there are a huge number of shops, they often write to me in the comments that they dress there. Of course, you also need to look carefully there.
I am gradually making orders for Aliexpress, found several stores with good factory shoes. China isn't always cheap bullshit. I have just a beautiful black jacket with Ali, which I wear to the feast and to the world. I never found one in the mass market. Of course, there is enough junk for Ali, the main thing here is to approach wisely.
Tell me, where do you dress? Do you have any favorites? I would be grateful if you share. Thank you for reading my article, for your likes and subscriptions. Your Katya.
