"Baby package" in Ukraine is a state natural aid that is given to all mothers (or their legal representatives) at the birth of a child. At least, that's how it was planned in 2018, when the baby box law just came into force. From that time to the present day, the boxes are more like a lottery: they either appear in maternity hospitals or disappear for several months. The reason is the unsettled mechanism of tender purchases and fraud when concluding contracts with box suppliers.
The last such break in the supply of "Baby Packages" began this spring. Due to an untimely tender in April, boxes completely disappeared from all maternity hospitals in the country. And from July 1, parents were officially given a choice without a choice: between a baby box (absent in fact) and monetary compensation in the amount of 3 living wages for a child under 6 years old (UAH 6039).
Such compensation cannot be compared to getting boxing in your hands. After all, the money is credited to a special card, and it is possible to purchase goods with it only with children's assortment, and even in strictly defined stores. In addition, in terms of filling the "Baby Package", the monetary compensation is much less. And finally, the government has solved the problem with the procurement of baby boxes. Yesterday the Ministry of Social Policy announced that "Baby Packages" were sent to Ukrainian maternity hospitals. This time, the tender was concluded with a Ukrainian manufacturer, so all the filling of the boxes (including the development mats, which were previously purchased in China) will be made in Ukraine.
Box set remained practically unchanged: it still has a children's mattress, blanket and blanket. They also put a package of diapers, a set of diapers, several sets of clothes for a baby in neutral colors, baby cosmetics (creams and soaps) and basic things for baby care (scissors, a comb, thermometers for water and body). The total weight of the baby box is about 15 kg. A list of contents must be included with the box. In the Ministry of Social Policy, each mother is advised to check the "Baby Package" immediately upon receipt. If something was not in it, the maternity hospital will transmit the information to the Ministry, and they will oblige the supplier to complete the baby box.

Officials are betting that not all parents will want to receive baby boxes - some will find it more convenient to choose monetary compensation. However, the lion's share of mothers believe that natural assistance is much more profitable.
Obviously, many baby boxes in December may not be enough. In this case, the parents will again have an uncontested choice - the state will "pay off" the women in labor with money. In order for this replacement to be equivalent, the Accounts Chamber proposed to the government in May increase compensation for the "Baby Package" up to 9 thous. hrn. Perhaps the authorities will listen to the auditors and by the end of the year will raise the equivalent of baby boxing from at least 3 to 4 living wages per child.
