Green coffee sellers promise that with its help you can lose 5 kilograms in just a month. Is this really so, said the nutritionist. Also, the doctor told whom green coffee is categorically forbidden.
How green coffee is different from black
Actually green coffee not green at all. It is a dull olive brownish hue. The smell of the grains is unpleasant, pronounced herbaceous. In short, no hint of coffee, to which we are accustomed. The taste is tart and sour, as if you swallowed a piece of unripe persimmon. If desired, the coffee can be lightly roasted to make it more aromatic. What is the effect of the green coffee diet
In the diet, there is almost no word about the daily diet - what it should be so that coffee is better absorbed and makes us slim. It is only mentioned in passing: it is advisable to adhere to a balanced diet. But the principle of action of chlorogenic acid is described in detail. This chemical compound, despite its name, has nothing to do with chlorine. The word "chloros" is translated from Greek as "light green". The acid supposedly slows down the flow of glucose into the bloodstream, and the body is forced to break down internal fat stores to obtain energy. In combination with antioxidants and vitamins, chlorogenic acid supposedly has a beneficial effect on the liver, cleansing it, and also takes care of the heart, speeds up metabolism and, importantly, reduces appetite.
How to lose weight with green coffee
This diet uses three green coffee-based foods
Ground coffee
Pour in 1 tsp. l. 150-200 ml of boiling water. Insist 15 minutes. It is recommended to drink half an hour before meals twice a day.
Coffee capsules
They must be taken as tablets (1 time per day with meals). It is not necessary to disassemble the capsules.
Coffee beans
Here you have to tinker a little. First, you need to properly grind the grains. Then heat, but do not bring to a boil, 150 ml of water and add 3 teaspoons of ground green coffee to the Turk. Cook over low heat until boiling. If desired, the drink can be filtered. Drink hot or chilled. It is allowed to flavor the coffee with cloves, cinnamon and other spices. Strengthen the "slimming" effect will help ginger. It needs to be grated and mixed with ground green coffee (1: 2 ratio), and then brewed as described above.

“You can lose weight on green coffee if you pick it up, for example, in the mountainous regions of Guatemala. “Evaporated chlorogenic acid is no different from other acids found in unroasted coffee, and it certainly does not break down fat. The inhibition of glucose absorption is also highly questionable, since this acid is not involved in this process. Glucose is absorbed almost instantly through the mucous membrane, starting in the mouth, ”explains the nutritionist.
The beneficial properties that are attributed to green grains also automatically disappear. According to Boris Skachko, no one has canceled the caffeine in them. “It raises blood pressure, which means that experiments with green coffee are contraindicated in heart hearts. As for appetite, any drink entering the stomach irritates its walls and suppresses appetite. But caffeine has an aftereffect - after half an hour, as soon as the coffee is out of the stomach, the appetite is played out with renewed vigor, ”says the nutritionist. Caffeine really speeds up your metabolism. For example, if a person wakes up at 7:00, the peak of his performance will be at 10: 00-11: 00, not earlier. But after a cup of morning coffee, awakening will come earlier - in about an hour you will be full of energy. “However, there are exceptions here. For example, your resting heart rate is 80 beats per
minute. And after coffee, the frequency increases to 90-100 beats. This is normal, but if the number is higher, it is better to give up the drink altogether, ”Skachko advises.
Green coffee is absolutely forbidden to drink:
- people with high blood pressure (caffeine increases it);
- pregnant and lactating mothers;
- people suffering from depression and nervous disorders (caffeine increases anxiety);
- patients with glaucoma (caffeine can increase intraocular pressure);
- people with problematic stools, diarrhea (caffeine makes it worse);
- those suffering from osteoporosis (caffeine can wash out calcium).
