The best places for swimming this summer: which Ukrainian beaches have earned the international Blue Flag mark (full list)
How do parents choose a place to stay with their children? The main requirement is that it be environmentally friendly and safe. The "Blue Flag" mark has long been recognized as the best criterion for selecting beaches in this sense. This is the highest international award that is awarded annually to those beaches in the world that have passed 33 quality tests. In Ukraine this year, the blue flag was raised on 17 beaches. Where to find them, read our review.
What does the Blue Flag mean?

Blue flag beaches are considered the best place for swimming with children for a reason. First, an international jury prior to the award of this award strictly checks the quality and purity of the water in the reservoir on which the beach nominated for the mark is located. Secondly, in order to receive a prestigious rating on the beach, there must be excellent infrastructure for recreation.
According to the requirements of the Foundation for Environmental Education (namely, it awards the mark), beaches with a blue flag must be present toilet, changing cabins, unlimited access to drinking water, first aid point and post where they are on duty all the time rescuers. Such beaches must be cleaned regularly, you cannot bring pets and use transport.
The mark is awarded once a season. That is, a beach that boasted a blue flag last year will not necessarily receive it again this season. This is done so that the owners of the beach (city government or private company) do not relax and constantly maintain the infrastructure in good condition. In addition, the mark received at the beginning of the season may be revoked - if the beach, according to some criterion, ceases to meet the high requirements.
Blue Flag beaches in Ukraine
Our country began to apply for the Blue Flag for its beaches relatively recently. Several years ago, these were just a few: a beach in Odessa and Zatoka, and a couple of beaches within Kiev. However, given the fact that people are more willing to go swimming in a place with an international mark, every year more and more places are awarded the title of the cleanest beaches in Ukraine. There are 17 of them this year, so there are plenty to choose from. The only drawback: they are not scattered throughout the country, but concentrated in only four regions.
Kiev (9 beaches)

Half of all the beaches with the blue flag "grabbed" itself the capital. A complete guide to them with a description of the infrastructure and recommendations on how to get there by public transport can be found in our separate article. Here we will post only a list of the cleanest (according to the international jury) beaches in Kiev:
- Beach "Pushcha-Voditsa"
- Galerny beach
- Beach "Golden"
- Children's beach
- Venice Beach
- Beach "Youth"
- Veselka beach
- Beach "Chertoroy"
- Beach "Troeshina"
Dnipro (1 beach)
The beach on Monastyrsky Island has not yet received a blue flag (photo from open sources)
In Dnipro, today only one beach has a "Blue Flag" mark, which is located on the territory of the GOOD ZONE Hotel country recreation complex. Strictly speaking, this complex is located not in the Dnieper itself, but 20 km from the city, in the village of Peschanka, on the banks of the Samara River. In the Dnieper this year, a city beach on Monastyrsky Island was submitted for a grade. However, there is no confirmation that he received this award on the website of the Environmental Education Fund.
Arabat arrow (3 beaches)

This year, on the Arabat Spit in the Sea of Azov, the blue flag was raised over three beaches at once. Two of them are located in Genicheskaya Gorka (the very beginning of the Arabat Spit). This is the beach of the recreation center "Chaika-1" and the beach that belongs to the Arabatka Club resort complex. The third flag flies over the central beach of the Schastlivtsevo village (the very center of the Arabat Spit).
Odessa region (4 beaches)
On the Kaleton beach in Odessa, you will have to pay for amenities (photo from open sources)
In the Odessa region, four beaches are recognized as the cleanest and safest for swimming. One of them is located directly in Odessa - this is the Caleton beach, located on the territory of the former sanatorium "Magnolia". The beach itself is leased from the owners of the Caleton club complex of the same name, but admission is free. Only paid infrastructure (umbrellas, sun loungers, gazebos).
The next blue flag beach is located in Fontanka, on the territory of the Yakhta restaurant and beach complex. Only visitors of the complex can get there. Likewise, the blue flag beach in Zatoka (on the territory of the Ruta Resort & Event Hotel) is also closed to visitors "from the street". But in Chernomorsk, the central municipal beach received a prestigious mark - the entrance to it is free for residents and guests of the city.
