Nutritionists and doctors are unanimous: drink enough clean water - it is necessary to maintain health. Good hydration speeds up metabolism, has a positive effect on the nervous system and relieves stress.

But what kind of water should you drink? Mineral, spring, or maybe tap water is enough? Here's a quick overview.

1. Tap water

Let's start right away with tap water. It is recommended to drink it. Forget all the legends associated with tap water. Tap water is odorless and non-contaminated. Its quality is constantly monitored.

In modern cities, water purification systems have been completely modernized. If you have any doubts about the water quality in your city, visit the website or call the water company. This way you can easily get information about water quality from the first source.

2. Mineral water

If you see water in a bottle, you already understand that it is mineral water. And this is a mistake. Because not all bottled water is mineral water.

By definition, mineral water is groundwater extracted from one or more natural or drilled wells. Such water is distinguished by its primary chemical and microbiological purity and stable mineral composition.

This definition was first proposed in 1911 at the International Balneological Congress in Bad Nauheim. Water, to be called mineral water, must contain at least 1000 mg of the element in 1 liter.

However, over time, the quantitative threshold of elements was lowered to 200 mg, which meant that mineral-labeled spring water had been sold to consumers for years.

There are mineral waters on the market:

slightly mineralized (up to 500 mg / l),

medium mineralized (from 500 to 1500 mg / l),

highly mineralized (more than 1500 mg / l).

Especially with highly mineralized water, you cannot overdo it. It is recommended for physically active people and those who are found to be deficient in, for example, magnesium. This water should not be given to children and it is not recommended to cook with it.

3. Spring water

This is low-mineralized water from a well-documented underground deposit. Its chemical composition can be subject to slight geological fluctuations.

Spring water is bacteriologically clean, devoid of harmful impurities, but the amount of minerals in it is not of great importance for the human body.

Then why is the chemical composition written on the labels of the spring water bottles? This is because the consumer should get the impression that he has mineral water in his hands, and the list of elements should convince him of this. And since there are few of them, this is another question.

Interestingly, the chemical requirements for bottled spring water are the same as for tap water.

4. Soda

Some people avoid it, thinking that since the water is carbonated, it has nothing to do with health. Carbonated water is not only good for the body, but also tastier than non-carbonated water. It also quenches thirst and invigorates better, therefore it is especially recommended in summer.

Nevertheless, carbonated water should not be drunk by people who are struggling with high acidity, digestive disorders and diseases of the throat and vocal cords, as blisters can aggravate symptoms.

5. Flavored water

The flavored water from the store shelves needs to say a resolute "no". Usually it is nothing more than sugar in liquid form. If you are not at all satisfied with the taste of ordinary water, you can supplement it with appropriate additives. The most popular of them are: mint, citrus fruits, especially lemon and lime, berries, fruits, and natural juices.

Water is life. It is necessary for every organism. Drink it as often as possible. And don't fall into marketing traps.
