In general, I am good about protein bars. But I haven’t come across 20g protein bars yet. Usually there is no more than 10-15 g of protein.

It is imperative to monitor the composition of the bar so that there there was no excess sugar and those substances whose purpose you do not understand.

So the answer is: read labels, choose products from trusted companies. And, of course, the norm - one bar a day, maximum two.

I sometimes take them with me when I realize that it will not be possible to eat normally during the day.

Should I give protein bars to teens?

As for the protein bars and teenagers. I'm not sure if they will understand the difference between good functional nutrition (protein bar) and, conventionally, regular sweet candy (you all know the names). And at some point they will probably replace one with another, especially since the candies are much cheaper. So the children will have to constantly explain and control everything.

Now about the fact that protein bars are sweet.

Generally proper nutrition is not about completely abandoning sweet, salty, fatty. We must give up the excess of these substances. Eating one protein bar a day is good and normal. And if you and a protein bar at every meal, and then tea and cake, then this is superfluous.

Many of my patients eat a protein bar as a dessert, which seems like a good option to me.
