We select a beautiful name for the baby that will sound the same in all countries of the world

This is the era of globalization and open borders. Even adjusted for quarantine, which will end someday. You won't surprise anyone with work abroad: according to statistics, every fifth Ukrainian of working age, legally or illegally, earns a penny in other people's land. It is difficult even to imagine what kind of world our adult children will live in. Maybe by that time the borders between the countries will become a complete convention. Realizing this, many parents are already trying to find an international name for their child that will sound the same in all languages.

How to choose a name for a child

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of a name to a child. This is the combination of sounds that the baby hears most often, and with which he begins to identify himself from a very early age. This is one of the factors that influence the character of the child. Therefore, choosing a name for a future baby often becomes a headache for a mother for many months of pregnancy. Parents go through popular names, rare names, flower names. They put the question to the family vote. Sometimes they even quarrel about this. And it is often forgotten that when choosing a name, you should also adhere to certain rules.

When choosing a name for a baby, be sure to think about whether he will like it in the future / istockphoto.com

The rule of euphony. Be sure to consider how your child's name will be combined with his last name and patronymic. Ivan Ivanovich Ivanov - of course, easy to remember. But somehow it is very similar to a tautology. If the child has a long middle name, choose a shorter name. Maximilian Borislavovich is practically a song with a chorus. A pretentious name is not very suitable for a "common" surname: listen to how Ophelia Tyapkina, for example, sounds.

Moderate originality. Do not overdo it when choosing a child original name. After all, with this name the baby goes to kindergarten and school. Believe that Nefertiti or Ichthyander in adolescence will condemn your fantasy many times.

Semantic load. Do not forget that each name has its own value. Try to find a name that will appeal to your child in the future. For example, the name Claudia means "lame", Varvara translates as "savage", Tamila comes from the word "torment", and Savva "old man".

Associative row. With all your love for foreign actors or characters, remember that a name that is quite common abroad in our country can cause completely different associations. Especially in the children's team, because children are very subtle in picking up caustic and offensive nicknames. The Turkish name Durna, the Spanish Juanita or the Brazilian Gomez are not very suitable for our open spaces.

Lost in translation. After choosing a name for your child, immediately translate it into several of the most common languages in the world. Check if the name has foreign counterparts. If not, notice how sweet it sounds. Long Old Slavonic names are hard for foreigners: Agrippina, Appolinarius, Dobronrav, Zlatoslav and the like.
