But what if you cook rolls at home? Will they be as tasty as in a cafe? Yes, it is possible, and right now I want to share with you step-by-step instructions for preparing this dish!
In your kitchen, you can create whatever you want. Therefore, the filling for the rolls can be to your taste! Most often used for cooking: cream cheese, cucumber, red fish, rice. But there are options with eel, crab sticks, and even an omelet! Let's prepare the most common version, which, I am sure, will work for any hostess, even if she does not have much experience in cooking.
Cooking ingredients
In supermarkets, you can buy everything we need for cooking. Nori sheets in special packages, canned ginger, wasabi, soy sauce, a 200-300 gram piece of red fish, 1-2 cucumbers, cream cheese or any other soft and rice. A special brine made from rice vinegar, sugar and salt is also useful. Well, for rolling the rolls, it is better to take a bamboo mat and cling film.
You can buy special expensive rice designed specifically for rolls, but ordinary round rice will do just fine. The secret is that it needs to be cooked correctly, you need less water than if you used to cook friable rice.
How to cook rice
To begin with, the rice must be rinsed in cold water at least five times so that the water after it is as clear as possible.
Next, pour the rice in a saucepan with water in proportions of 1 to 2.5, respectively. That is, for a glass of rice you need to take 2.5 glasses of water. The pan must be taken with a thick bottom, otherwise the rice may burn. I take a saucepan with a hole in it. Put on fire, when the water boils, stir the rice, reduce heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and simmer the rice for about 15 minutes. The lid must not be opened during cooking.
While the rice is cooking, stir in 1/2 tsp. l. salt, 1 tsp l. sugar and 1 tbsp. l. vinegar. Put the ingredients on a low heat, and with constant stirring, wait until the sugar and salt are completely dissolved.
Rice, after it is cooked, should be left to stand under the lid for another 10 minutes. And then it can already be mixed with brine. If you have not yet had time to cook the rest of the ingredients, then be sure to wrap the rice with a towel so that it does not cool completely before making the rolls.
Assembling rolls
Cut the cucumbers and red fish into long thin slices. It is better to arrange the food in different plates, it will be more convenient this way. Place a piece of cling film on a bamboo mat and a sheet of nori on top with the rough side on top. You need to spread the filling from yourself, and leave about 2-3 cm empty at the far edge. make sure that the rice does not crumple, flatten it. Do not forget to put a bowl of water in it, you need to moisten your hands in it so that the rice does not stick to them.
Spread the rice on the nori sheet, leveling it evenly with your hands. Step back about a centimeter from the edge, and put a fish, a cucumber, and also lay out soft cheese.
It remains only to roll the rolls into a roll, do it carefully, constantly pressing the ingredients together. Done! You can put the roll in the refrigerator for a little while, but if it's already dinner time, start slicing the dish. Carefully remove the cling film, take a sharp knife, and cut the roll into 2 halves. The blade of the knife does not need to be pressed down, it is necessary to cut, as it were, and not press. Each half needs to be cut into 2 more, and so on, until you get the rolls of the desired size.
