Great Lent began in Ukraine. From now on, meat, milk, dairy products and eggs are completely excluded from food. Also, all dishes containing these products are prohibited, including pastries and various sweets. Of course, not everyone adheres to such strict rules. However, every year there are more and more people wishing to fast.

Great post involves more than just avoiding certain foods. This is bodily and spiritual abstinence, a time for inner purification through the rejection of the usual joys. From this point of view, indulging yourself with various goodies during fasting is very untimely. But it's so hard to keep away from sweets, especially if there are small children in the house. For dessert, kids can be offered lean homemade cakes. They are in no way worse than store-bought cookies, and often even healthier - after all, they do not contain any margarine, no milk powder.

Lean Crasy Cake

According to legend, the "crazy pie" was invented in the United States in the 30s of the last century. Then the country was covered by the economic crisis, and the housewives had to invent recipes for dishes, as they say, "out of nothing." This cake is very easy to prepare, with a rich chocolate flavor and a moist biscuit structure.

Composition:

  • 1.5 tbsp. flour
  • 1 tbsp. Sahara
  • 5 tbsp. l. cocoa
  • a pinch of salt
  • vanilla sugar or vanillin
  • 6 tbsp. l. vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp of water
  • 1 hour l. soda
  • vinegar for soda quenching
  • nuts optional

Cooking method. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients - flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, vanillin. In another bowl, thoroughly mix water with vegetable oil. Combine dry and "wet" contents, add soda quenched with vinegar (vinegar can be replaced with lemon juice). At this stage, you can add chopped nuts. Pour the dough into a mold and put it with the pie in the oven preheated to 190 ° C. Crazy Cake is baked for about 30-40 minutes. During the baking process, the cake rises well and is covered with a beautiful chocolate crust. We check the readiness with a match or a toothpick.

Lean oatmeal cookies

Oatmeal cookies are a favorite among the healthy eating community. Many seriously consider it to be the only useful of all flour sweets. We will not deny it. But only on one condition. If a oat biscuits cooked with your own hands. Start with a lean oatmeal cookie recipe: minimum cost per product and time to cook.

Composition:

  • 1.5 tbsp. oatmeal
  • 2 soft ripe bananas
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup nuts
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • Vinegar for extinguishing
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cooking method. Grind instant oatmeal in a blender. Do not overdo it - they should remain in pieces, and not turn into flour. Peel the bananas and grind them in a blender as well (you can just mash them well with a fork). Combine oatmeal and banana puree, add liquid honey. If you have thick honey, pre-melt it in a water bath or microwave. Add nuts and cinnamon, stir and set aside for 15-20 minutes. Add baking soda, quenched with vinegar or lemon juice, stir again. Form small oval cookies with wet hands and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies in an oven heated to 200 ° C until golden brown (15-20 minutes).

Lean orange muffins

Portion cupcakes or, as they are now called, muffins are a great treat for children. It is not necessary to render the kids in the preparation of their favorite dish during the fast. Lean muffins "fit" well in the oven, they turn out to be tender and will surprise the sweet tooth with their original orange flavor.

Composition:

  • 160 ml orange juice
  • 120 g sugar
  • 70 ml vegetable oil
  • vanillin
  • 2 h l. baking powder for dough
  • 360 g flour
  • 1 tbsp. l. apple cider vinegar

Cooking method. You can buy orange juice at the store, or you can make it yourself. The second option is preferable, because in this case we still have the zest. To obtain 160 ml of juice, two medium-sized oranges are enough. Squeeze the juice out of them, peel off half of the orange. Add sugar, vegetable oil and vinegar to the juice and zest. Stir well to dissolve the sugar completely. In another container, combine salt, sugar, vanillin, sifted flour and baking powder. Combine liquid and dry ingredients. Knead the dough thoroughly and place in muffin tins (no more than 2/3 full). Send the muffins to the oven, preheated to 180 ° C, for 30 minutes.

Lenten honey gingerbread

For many, honey cakes are a Christmas-flavored treat. Believe me, all your family members will enjoy them even more during the fast. The dough is not so elastic as to squeeze figures out of it with molds. Therefore, gingerbread according to this recipe will be in the form of ordinary balls.

Composition:

  • 100 ml of water
  • 3 tbsp. l. Sahara
  • 3 tbsp. l. honey
  • 50 ml. vegetable oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 400 g flour
  • 1/2 tsp l. baking powder for dough
  • vanillin
  • cinnamon
  • ginger

Cooking method. Boil water in a wide saucepan, remove from the stove, add sugar and honey. Stir until the components are completely dissolved. Add vegetable oil and a pinch of salt. Sift half the flour into the liquid mixture. Add spices - vanilla, ginger and cinnamon. Add the rest of the flour. The dough is soft and sticky. Lubricate your hands with vegetable oil and shape the dough into identical balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and press lightly with the palm of your hand. Heat the oven to 180 ° C and bake the lean gingerbread for 20-25 minutes.

Lean charlotte with yeast

Charlotte can be called childhood cake. Any mother bakes this "haste" apple biscuit, elementary in preparation, when her husband and children demand something tasty. Charlotte can also be cooked in fasting. We suggest you supplement the recipe with yeast - the pastries will turn out to be fluffy and airy.

Composition:

  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • 2 tbsp. warm water
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 pack. dry yeast
  • 100 g sugar
  • 4 apples
  • lemon juice

Cooking method. To get started, "run" the yeast. Mix warm water, sugar and salt in a deep bowl, add yeast there. They must completely dissolve in water. Wait for the bubbles to appear, then pour in the vegetable oil. Stir. Carefully add the sifted flour into the liquid. Knead the dough until it starts to come off your fingers. Place it in a bowl, cover and let rise. According to the rules, the dough should rise two times: it rose, kneaded and wait until it rises again. After that, separate about a third from the dough, set aside. Roll the rest into a layer up to 2 cm thick, put on a baking sheet and form sides. Apples cut into thin slices or grate, put on the dough, sprinkle with sugar and sprinkle with lemon juice. Roll the remaining dough into "sausages" and place them on top of the apples in a lattice-like manner. Set the pie aside and let the text come up a third time. Bake in an oven preheated to 180 ° C for at least 40 minutes.
