Correcting the American translation on the benefits of milk

After yesterday's article could not resist, dug deeper and found in the same place nonsense about the benefits of milk.

We already discussed the story of potassium from yogurt two years ago. Immediately struck. Someone there swore that yogurt contains a lot of potassium.

In fact, there are approximately 140 milligrams of potassium in 100 grams of yogurt. It's a lot?

You and I need 3,000 milligrams of potassium daily. If we read a lot of popular articles and start getting potassium from yoghurt, then this yoghurt will need two kilograms a day. I won't eat that much. And you?

In short, sometimes a decent popular English-language source publishes something that is impossible to explain.

Vitamin D

Let's go further. Our guys write that milk contains a lot of vitamin D.

And again these guys are let down by the translation of American sources. Americans may have a lot of vitamin D in their milk because they enrich it with it. But we don't have America here. Forget milk for vitamin D. It will only be a source of calcium here.

Babies

They also write that children under one year old should not be given cow's milk, because it has the wrong balance of nutrients, and the baby will not be able to digest protein with fat.

Indeed, cow's milk contains more protein and fat than a human baby needs. But usually the child digests it, and just from this there can be problems.

This was again in favor of American norms. In the Scandinavian countries, in my opinion, cow's milk has been introduced since nine months.

Infant kidneys are overloaded with excess protein and various salts. It's not very good. If the child is dehydrated by illness, fever or diarrhea, then cow's milk will be too osmotic for him. Better breast or mixture, or just water.

In fact, babies under one year old are not given cow's milk, because iron levels are lowered from this.

In addition, children's intestines sometimes react with bleeding to cow's milk. This is a kind of intolerance, similar to an allergy. There will be even less iron from bloody stools.

Well, it is clear that if some have nothing to eat (I have a couple of such acquaintances), then they will give the child what is in the dairy kitchen, and no one will throw these products away. It's not the best, but the food.
