I sometimes take a bus, not an ordinary one, but an intercity one. And once a very unpleasant incident happened to me. I remembered for a long time, I could not come to my senses from the rudeness and arrogance of people.
And it was like this. Intercity buses, for those who do not know, more city buses, they usually have 30-40-50 seats. Nobody stands, no crush. Each passenger buys a seat and travels with a ticket. Usually I didn't have any problems. I calmly bought a ticket, threw things into my luggage, sat down in my seat, and listened to music on headphones all the way.
But on that day, something went wrong with me in the morning. I overslept, almost missed the bus, fortunately, I bought tickets in advance. Why tickets? Because a friend asked to take a bag with some junk to my mother, and there were also fragile things. I didn't check in my luggage with fragile things, instead I bought two pieces next to each other. It is not forbidden, what is the difference for what you bought a ticket, the main thing is that you paid for it.
I sat down near the window, put my bag on the next chair, put a bag on it, turned on the music on the phone, stuck headphones in my ears, and leaned back on the seat. So, I said that people do not ride on an intercity bus while standing, but the driver of this bus began to take people at all stops. Basically, I don’t care, I’m sitting, seats have been bought, people are crammed into vehicles, and have already taken all the empty seats. Half is worth it. There are two seats left at the very end of the bus. The driver apparently decided to cheat on the road, people paid for his fare like a bus around the city, and drove calmly, leaving after 2-3-4 stops.
A 45-year-old woman enters the bus, pays the driver's fare, says where she needs to stop, and squeezes through the crowd. He comes up to me and says:
- Take your bags, sit here.
At first I didn't hear, I take out the headphones:
- What, excuse me?
“Put your bags away, I say,” the woman repeats.
I expected this to happen, and I always give way to people on buses, but not on intercity. The cost will be higher than that of urban ones, especially since the second place was bought from me specifically for my bags. I answer:
- Sorry, but this place is specially for my stuff. I would be glad to remove them somewhere, but there is nowhere easy. There at the end of the place is like.
But the woman did not give up:
- Why should I go there, to the very end, if there is free space? And why are your bags on it?
The woman who was riding behind me intervened:
- There is a ticket for this place, what difference does it make to you that you didn’t buy it on it! And the woman bought it specially for the bags!
A scandal began. The driver heard all this, stopped the bus, and came up to us to figure it out. Seeing that there were bags next to me, he was indignant:
“Why don’t you put your bags away?” You have no right to occupy empty space. Put your luggage away quickly!
Shout, oh, I'm terribly angry, showing the driver two tickets with designated seats. He falls into a stupor. Most likely he was shown two tickets, he didn't even bother to look who was going and where. Of course, if one ticket was given, and two people entered, he would start to be indignant. And here, on the contrary, maybe he thought that I was crazy, came in alone, and I have two tickets.
After seeing the tickets, the driver asked the woman to go to the end of the cabin, which she did. And no one apologized to me. We continued our route, but the driver no longer took passengers on the way.
This is the story that happened to me. I am not a scandalous person, I try to behave culturally. And at that moment, if I could, I would put the bags away. But there were fragile things, especially not mine. And the woman, I think, however, like the driver, behaved very arrogantly and boorishly!
