Sour cream is a truly Russian product that can be found in almost every refrigerator. We eat first courses with sour cream, seasoning cabbage soup and borscht, someone loves dumplings and dumplings with fat sour cream, and it also becomes the basis for sauces in which meat or, for example, cabbage rolls are stewed. But when choosing sour cream, you should be careful not to run into low-quality products, the content of which cannot always be assessed by eye, taste, and even by examining the composition on the package.

Roskontrol has identified 10 cans of sour cream from Russian supermarkets, which it blacklisted and does not recommend for purchase.

1. "From the milk of our milking" 20%

This sour cream from the Klin manufacturer did not satisfy the specialists either in terms of safety requirements or in terms of organoleptic indicators. It turned out that in this pretty jar there is 24 times more yeast than permissible, as evidenced by a slight sour taste, not too uniform consistency, and the addition of phosphates is also likely.

Plus, 16% more protein and 33% less carbohydrates. From the pros: no preservatives, vegetable fat and starch.

2. Izbenka 25%

The white jar "Izbenki" also has an uncharacteristic ratio of calcium to phosphorus, which indicates the presence of added phosphates. But the most important violation is the excess of the yeast content by 5200 times! And this gigantic figure affects the taste of sour cream, which seems sour. The consistency is heterogeneous, there are small white lumps in the mass.

3. "Vkusnoteevo" 20%

Vkusnoteevo is one of the most popular brands of dairy products that can be found in any supermarket. But alas, as studies have shown, this is more of a “product” rather than sour cream, since starch is found in its composition, which should not be in genuine sour cream. Fortunately, the rest is flawless.

4. Milava 15%

The same sins can be found in the Milava 15% can, which is often bought by those who want to reduce the calorie content of their diet. With its help, it will be problematic to do this, because what is inside this jar cannot be called sour cream. The composition includes starch, which also affects the consistency with a large number of small white lumps.

5. President 15%

And again the same problem: in the composition of starch and carrageenan (food additive, polysaccharide that is used in products as a thickener), there is added phosphate. The consistency of sour cream is not uniform, and the taste is slightly bitter.

6. Ostankinskoe 15%

Sour cream of the Ostankinskoye brand with a low fat content also includes a stabilizer in the form of starch, which forms its consistency. Unlike the previous samples tested, this one, fortunately, has no complaints about its organoleptic properties, it has a decent taste, does not contain vegetable fats, and lactic acid bacteria are within the normal range.

7. "36 kopecks" 20%

The name of the brand excites nostalgic feelings, and the product itself does not hit the wallet much, standing out on store shelves in a bright blue color. Alas, not everything is as positive on the inside as on the outside. This sour cream contains starch, 20 times more yeast, not 20% fat, but 17.5%, not too high quality lumpy consistency, sour taste, and a shelf life of as much as 30 days instead of 3 days for regulations.

As indicated on the Roskontrol website, the examination of this sour cream was already carried out in 2015, and then no violations were identified, which suggests that the indicators have changed for the worse over time.

8. "Lakomo" 20%

Sour cream under the brand name "Lakomo" was blacklisted with the label "high degree of violation". And the thing is that this product has 6.2 times more yeast, and the fat content is not at all what is indicated on the package - 15% instead of 20%, which is misleading the buyer. Undoubted advantages: no phosphates, preservatives, vegetable fats and starch.

9. Milava 20%

Above in the list is sour cream "Milava" 15%, which turned out to have an average degree of violation. For products with 20% fat, the degree of violation is maximum, therefore, special attention should be paid to this jar.

It contains antibiotic streptomycin, which negatively affects health and can cause imbalance in microflora. Healthy people have absolutely no need to consume antibiotics in food!

10. "Dmitrovsky Dairy Plant" 20%

Another jar of sour cream, which is not distinguished by safety and, according to the examination, is characterized by the maximum degree of violation. First of all, this is an excess of the yeast content by 2000 times! Such sour cream can cause gastrointestinal disorders, especially in people with a predisposition.

Despite the fact that experts did not have critical complaints about the organoleptic properties, it was not found preservatives and vegetable fats, the product has a sour taste, and the acidity level is at extremely high indicators. There are also suspicions about the content of a large amount of stabilizers in the form of modified starches. This means that this sour cream cannot be called sour cream.
