In Russian shelters, the age of the dog is one of the decisive factors for potential owners in search of a pet. They don't want to take older dogs from shelters, preferring puppies and very young dogs, which are still easy to train and adapt. But in the USA and Europe, people are not afraid to take very elderly dogs, to whom they give love and care for as long as they are allotted.
A fresh story about one of these attachments has recently spread across the Internet. We are talking about a half-breed pit bull terrier named Wiggles, who found a family after 11 years of waiting in one of the American shelters.
An uncomfortable and problematic dog
Wiggles entered the orphanage at the age of three in 2010 because she was uncomfortable dog. She was given there by her owner, who was tired of taking care of a pet with allergies. In theory, she had plenty of chances to find a home, but her health and character let her down.
For a long time, Wiggles was unfriendly towards people, and zooaggression also manifested itself, which is why the dog was refused at the stage of acquaintance. In addition, she was later found to have a benign tumor, which had to be removed.
But most importantly, the dog was and remains problematic due to allergies, which requires careful selection and maintenance of the diet and lifelong medication. This has always proved to be an obstacle for the Wiggles to find a family. Potential owners did not want to bear such responsibility and additional costs as her own owner, who refused her because of this.
Dog joy
It seemed that everything was already decided for Wiggles, but suddenly she was lucky. The dog decided to take a couple, who recently lost two of their pets. They wanted to fill the void in their home and heart, giving love and care to a living being that badly needed them.
The shelter's dog handler, who has cared for Wiggles all these years, said she cried with happiness when she finally found just the perfect family.
Animal Shelter 5A's has been around since 1956. Puppies are disassembled here from a month to a week, and other dogs are kept until they find owners.
