In Ukraine, back in December last year, a new mechanism for one-time assistance for a child, the so-called baby package, was approved.
This year Ukrainian mom can receive either a baby package or monetary compensation.
How to get a baby package
Every newborn child who was born in a health care institution applies for a baby box. If there are no packages left in the maternity hospital, then the mother should contact the social protection unit for help.Maternity hospitals and departments of social protection of the population are engaged in the issuance of baby boxes.
The mother must contact the department no later than 30 days after the birth of the child (no later than one year after the birth of a child, if the birth did not take place in a health care institution, for example, at home or for border).
What documents are needed to receive the baby's package?
The recipient must attach to the application for the "baby package":
- Child's birth certificate (copy),
- A document confirming the fact of the birth of a child outside a healthcare institution, if the birth took place at home,
- A certificate from the hospital that the baby's package has not yet been issued.
How to get compensation instead of baby boxing?
If you have not received the baby's package within 30 days from the date of the birth of the child for reasons that do not depend on you, then you are entitled to receive monetary compensation.The amount of monetary compensation is at least three times the minimum subsistence level for children under the age of six.
