On the eve of the old New family, Ukraine celebrates the Generous Evening. Let's remember what the holiday customs and traditions are.

What can you do on a generous evening

Generous evening got its name from the tradition of celebrating the holiday with rich feasts. Our ancestors believed that a good table this evening will give the family prosperity!

Not a single celebration was complete without kutya, however, it was not prepared as lean as on Christmas, but with the addition of butter and cream.

Pork dishes, sausage, bacon, as well as dumplings, pies and other dishes baked in the oven are considered mandatory.

After sunset, people go out to give generosity, they do this, according to beliefs, to drive away evil spirits.

If someone comes to you to be generous, be sure to let the guests into the house so that their wishes come true.

What not to do on Generous Evening

According to some beliefs, fish cannot be cooked on the table on Generous Evening. Our ancestors believed that in this way happiness could drift away from home.
